This is my largest Starfield build so far and took me the longest to make. I had an entire landing pad build decorated before I learned how to consistently add airlocks so I rebuilt to make it more ideal. By finding a reliable way to place airlocks on the landing pad was a game changer. It can still be frustrating to build on the landing pads but its 100% possible without mods. This is all vanilla, just using a little bit of building techniques/glitches to get it to work. I do use console commands to add the npcs, but as far as building goes, no commands and no mods. I show how to build on the landing pad towards the end of the video. When designing a more research work oriented build its always nice to build by a POI because it makes it seem like theres a city nearby where work can get done, it adds to the immersion a bit. This is my first time using the large landing pad because I just felt it was so big and plain but being able to build on it really makes a difference. I'm happy with how this turned out and hopefully it can give you some ideas!

Excellent build and Very useful information. I've seen other outposts vids with the habs and airlock on the launchpad, but i've been struggling to replicate what they did. This got me squared with the airlock placement.

I'm not sure I agree with having the workshop and crew habs branching off from the infirmary; it creates a traffic flow where there's going to be sick people who possibly shouldn't be disturbed. Other than that, though, I love the organic feel of this, like the habs just branched out naturally with the outpost's changing needs over time. Kinda makes me wish I could visit just so I could -pick up- read those skill magazines. :D Love the data slate display turned toaster, too. Your ability to create a lived-in feel is one of the best I've seen. Gotta watch those POIs in the distance, BTW. They're scenic to be sure, but if they're full of pirate types you might get attacks at your outpost. I had to clear Spacers out of one that was only about 200 m away from my primary outpost.

Thank you! I’m finishing up another build soon, still have to record and edit it but I’m really pleased with how lived in this one feels so I think you’ll like it! I love using the toast in the data slate display, I’m thinking of putting little tricks like that into a video soon for some decoration tips and ideas.

Forsure, I’m trying to build 100% vanilla, no mods until the creation kit drops early 2024 then I’ll start messing around with building with mods. I just can’t help but add the npcs cause it really does make the tour and whole build feel more alive.

@MillsBuilds
@MillsBuilds 7 ай бұрын
Thanks! The toaster is actually just a data slate display in the display section of your build menu. But instead of putting data slates into them you have to find toast in the world and just drop the pieces of toast from your inventory and place them in the data slate display.

Not sure why, but the airlock trick isn't working for me. I've tried with all the different hab types, but it's just a no go. Perhaps the update fixed it? Is there some other method you've figured out since this update?

I just tested it and it still works post update. Are you able to get the habs on the landing pads? Just not the airlocks? I show it off again in my most recent video too but that was before this newest update. But I did check it today and it all works still.

Are both those your ships? Who is using the other ship or can anyone land on the other landing pad. I have an Xbox, and can't get mods. I can't get my ship to, which is an Autobahn III to keep landing on my large landing pad. Evertime I come to my outpost, I appear, but my ship isn't own my pad, so I go and have to add it in again, by adding another ship as my home ship then adding the Autobahn back as my home ship, then it appears, and then I try to go in and it's like I'm stealing tbe ship and it's not mine. It want let me go to cockpit, no crew is assigned, my cargo isn't there and I have to go sit in the cockpit,and then fly out and then my crew is there, just like when you steal the ship. Then when I try to land back at my outpost, it does the same exact thing, over and over.. 😩 I'm level 106, been through the unity 11 times and have high skill levels so not sure what's going on. This is my first outpost since I was waiting until I was done with the NG+. My outpost isn't on the landing pad or even attached to it, so not sure if I should do that. I've build in Jemison next to the water, and have a view of New Atlantis so not sure if it's because I'm here. Any help would be appreciated. You seem like a pro..😊
@MillsBuilds
@MillsBuilds 8 ай бұрын
The other ship is not mine, it’s a cargo link. The cargo link basically looks identical to the smaller landing pad and if you link a cargo link from one of your outposts to another cargo link at another one of your outposts it will basically transfer resources to and from and the ship will land every so often on the cargo link pad. As for what else you said I think that sounds like a glitch. I’ve read some people saying that their ship doesn’t land at the landing pad, I have yet to experience this fortunately but I think I might have an idea what could cause it. When you first place your outpost beacon down it might be best to just leave it there. I know if you move your beacon after you already start building it could cause some pretty bad glitches. That could be one of them, for me it deleted my whole outpost and I had to land at the nearest landing zone to be able to find it again. And when I did find it when I entered build mode it would instantly freeze my game. Could also be due to the fact you built close to New Atlantis but I don’t really think that should happen, but neither should any glitch so. Sorry to hear that’s happening and hopefully some bug fixes and updates will sort that out.
@CinthiaMcDaniel-Smith
@CinthiaMcDaniel-Smith 8 ай бұрын
@@MillsBuilds Thank you. You are awesome! I was wondering what the link cargo pad was for. I know I keep getting Missions telling me to link a cargo link, and I did that, but it still done nothing, so not sure if I have to link it on a planet that they are on also, if so, do I need to build a outpost on every that I have that mission for? Sorry, I've done the whole game, leveled up and did all the NG+ and now I'm finally playing with the outpost and some can be confusing to my old lady brain..😂🤣
@MillsBuilds
@MillsBuilds 7 ай бұрын
@@CinthiaMcDaniel-Smith there’s actually two different types of cargo links ( the ones that look just like the smaller landing pad ) one cargo link connects to another cargo link in the same system with no fuel needed to power it. But the other cargo link will connect to another cargo link in any system but it requires a fuel to power it which is helium 3. So you’d want to find a planet that has helium 3 as a resource. In my opinion the whole outpost inventory system needs a whole re work. It really shouldn’t be so difficult and I think it would be better if your cargo storage just connected with every outpost seamlessly. That’s basically how it worked in Fallout 4. But no problem! Let me know if you have any other questions I’ll try helping the best I can

@MillsBuilds

Who called it a tutorial? It’s a base tour, not a tutorial video. Since I found a reliable way to place airlocks on landing pads I decided to show how it can be done towards the end of the video. @@jacklhasa all good dude. The channel was originally made to show base tours not really as a tutorial channel. When I do builds that involve some sort of special technique or glitch I like to show how it’s done at least as a little bonus to the tour. One thing I don’t have is a mic so when I do want to show how it’s done, text over the video is pretty much my only option unless I did a voice to text thing which personally I’d rather just invest in a mic down the line and record audio myself if the channel continues growing. Hopefully you can still figure out how to put the airlocks on the landing pads like I show in the video and this video can help you out someway.
