I have Beryllium, Aluminum, Helium-3, Alkanes, Iron and Water all in one outpost on Linnaeus IV-b in the Linnaeus system. I did it after doing exactly what this guy is talking about in regards to "split biomes". Took me around 45 minutes to an hour to finally get all those resources in the range of my outpost relay after loading and saving a bunch of time to procedurally generate new maps. Quick tip: in each resource field put one container in the center of the field and connect the extractors to it then connect that one’s output to the stacks of containers. That way you can repoint the entire resource fields output by changing the one box and its easier to see what’s going because you don’t have tons of redlines everywhere.

If you go to modify mode (the one were you can connect stuff) you can also edit some habitats walls for example you can put more windows. You walk to a wall, if it's editable it will highlight. It's the same button you use for putting staff in build mode. Actually many habitats have windows but not by default.

They need a similar function on ships. If your near a ship technician and on your ship, you can go to 'ship edit mode' like outpost mode and then edit hatches and walls and ladders to turn off and on entrances. Would really help and shouldn't cost anything, as these events don't cost at the technician either. Interface is already in place with outpost editing. As long as a path is maintained from cockpit to docker/ramp, you should be free to add as much or little as you like.

If you’re going to make outposts, don’t worry about split biomes. Save the time and just make a few extra. The time it takes to get just one split can be used to find and build three bases. Extracting bases don’t need to be fancy, so you can afford the time and resources making a handful extra. Just link them to a central base and build that up as you like.

Should be able to build stores and make settlers man them, that way you'd be selling excess resources and have constant income, maybe be able to put stuff in a specific trading container. I got super lucky on Andraphon finding a spot that (barely) has Aluminum, He-3, Iron, Beryllium, AND Europium! Although the buildable space got slightly infringed, since another tip I haven't seen mentioned is that NPC landmark locations have a (200? 300? meter) radius exclusion zone where you can't build anything, and there was a cave nearby that cut a chunk into my outpost zone. Since I built my outpost with a little trial-and-error before I saw this video (lots of people doing guides, eventually recommendeds pointed me here- gotta say, good one!), I got a little confused on how the feeding connections work (it's worth noting that it seems they only feed in the direction you connect them, so the order matters), and didn't realize that they only move materials around, and don't just create a shared-access pool like I was expecting (so I had connections leading to the cargo link and transfer container, and got very confused when the materials I put into the storage containers immediately disappeared as soon as I backed away). I was hoping for more of a "shared pool" like I was expecting based on Fallout 4, so I could access all stored materials at my crafting benches without carrying them around on me or my ship until I could get the insane funds for an insane class-C cargo ship. Biggest let-down of the game so far IMO, that the resource sharing is FAR more limited than in F4, which means storing and accessing materials is a lot more work, and I'm perpetually over-encumbered since materials are so dang heavy. (It's a good thing I found a backpack with Assisted Carry, which reduces O2 drain when over-encumbered by 75%, so manageable, but no thruster slot on it D:). Also, not sure if there's a way to hook up cargo container contents to crafting tables, or only your ship... Also, I should mention, since I ran out of copper somehow (I could've sworn I'd had enough on me), I tried using a couple fueled reactors for power since I had a He-3 deposit, but annoyingly, the reactors use up He-3 far faster than the extractors produce, so they're useless unless you have a huge field where you could drop 5 extractors to feed a couple reactors (also'd need some He-3 on hand in order to start the generators to begin pumping), or have progressed enough for an industrial-sized extractor (but by then you probably have better options for power, such as just doing solar)
@anthonylofthouse1672 Жыл бұрын
You only need to physically pickup resources for crafting if you are moving those resources to another planet. Any resource in your outpost is accessible from anywhere in your outpost, including your ship's cargo bay, if your ship is in your outpost.

@@NicoGylis Lot good info... just not the best or even a great planet to do it on... not at my gaming pc .... but planet is bessel II or IIc ? and the maps aren't random generated or at least not how I interpret random generated.... every playthrough I go to the same planet and find the exact same area using the same black mountain as geographical point of reference and then place base in pretty much same spot beside the same cropping of rocks.... it splits 3 biomes and you get nickle, aluminum, iron... and ... cobalt? time is something like 1/50 so sleep or wait for 1 hour 50 hours pass UTC... anyways even if you follow this guide ... alum and iron are most important so guide is goodd for that... but bad advise is with the extractors... use as few as possible and get the gather circle covering as much of the mine able area as possible... less extractors means need less power so less resources to spend on building power supply. also don't spread stuff around the outside... the game is not great at making it obvious when you have damaged structures... so good chance your base can get raided and power supply or extractors get damaged and stop producing... not sure what determines when/if/how often you get raided... so good to try and centralize structures and drop just a basic hab so you can put turrets on the roof to offer at least some protection... or at least make it easier to drop by and check if repairs are needed without running to the outskirts. but overall this is a great guide for the basics... and then people would figure out the little improvements on their own...

From what I noticed. It seems Cargo Link inter systems bug out when you have more than one in a solar system. It'll pop an error saying "Link space is currently busy or something" You'd probably have to build a Inter system on helium planets & connect all the resources to that planet with regular Cargo links as a Center Hub for that solar system & send resources out that way.
@SpaceTruckinNomad Жыл бұрын
Thanks for step by step instructions with the added tips👍 exactly what I needed
@-hellsgate- Жыл бұрын
Technically, Inter-System platforms only require one end to have a helium 3 connection for both ends to work. Personally, I rename the first outpost in every system (appending the word "HUB" to it's name) - so, everything traverses via the hub; all other outposts only send resources to the hub via a non-Inter-System platform (outpost 2 sends to outpost 1 & outpost 3 sends to outpost 2, etc). In front of the platforms I build a 2x10 storage for solids, liquid & gas - link all incoming connections to that storage and the other end of them to the Inter-System platform's outgoing connections; add a small gas store by the inter-System platform; connect the gas store to the platform's gas receptacle; then connect it's incoming link to the gas store & add a connection to the platform's outgoing link - doing it in this order means the smnall gas store should ony hold helium 3 & that helium 3 is distributed across all hubs in the chain. By each resource extractor: I build 3x10 storage for that resource type; connect the extractor(s) to the storage; and connect the other end to the storage in front of the platforms. NB: Storage in front of platforms appears to reduce the noise they make too. Caveat emptor start small - you only need one or two small extractors for any given resource - otherwise you can overwhelm your connections & storage with one particular resource. Your main outpost everything connects to needs a further 2x10 storage for solids, liquid, gas & manufactured materials for each hub in the chain.

Great tips in these comment sections. Some more tips: @Bessel III-b: Fe/Al/Co/Ni @Sumati (Narion): Cu/Pb/F/XF4 Also: the stopping randomly of the intersystem cargo links -- check you habe everything feeding into the right boxes and enough He-3. When the destination of the outgoing resouces is full, the feighters come back to the origonal output still with their cargo and it gets dumped into incoming box of the outgoing system. I think this can eventually lead to a stalling of resources. So connect thr incoming box of the place you are shipping supplies from back to the start of your extractions storage chain and they'll never be a stall in the system.

Yes! DO build that Ship Builder Pad (ASAP). Like the inside 250m you can access and transfer to/from ship cargo, is one of those things that make life better. Literally! Bioms: Instead of running around with the scanner. A much more effective, easier and faster method to find multiple (3,4 and even 5) resources in the same spot/outpost, is to : 1) At a multiple biom spot. Take out the outpost beacon. While having it out, run around with it to use it as a resource 'scanner'. Try have it as far in front of you as you can an look around in all directions. 2) Since Up/left corner of your screen u can see every the resources available in the vicinity of the beacon ring. Giving you a MUCH bigger, faster and better way of finding multiple resources 3) High Ground --> Use your pack, boulders or other high grounds to make the beacon go even further in front of you, and give you even longer reach and better overview Nice guide btw. Thorough and good tips. No BS. Straight to the point. All in one vid. Went over all the basics and then some.

This is by far the best guide for building bases but shows clearly if you wanna invest any time in outpost and maybe ship-building you need over 100 levels to even think about putting skill points into combat. Therefor I would invest points into combat skills first to have fun with starfield in general and after that investing in base building. But thats 100 % only my opinion. It's kind of sad that you don't can have both.

So. I've been trying to find a good guide on how to get mixed resources. I think this is the first one to really explain how the biomes were.

Outposts need some work IMO. A large container can hold somewhere around 320 cargo max. I can hold 240 cargo on my body. They need to increase capacity at least like 500%. Why are there no outer walls available to build? I have to stack containers five tall and connect them all the way around my base to make a wall? Is that really the best option we've got? We also need a way to remove landing zones from the map. I'm tired of switching my home ship back and forth to summon it to my outpost. All these things annoy me too much to enjoy the outpost automation.

Quick tips, on Bessel-3B , tou have a ratio of 1/60 there is a spot with all 4 basic ressources ( iron , nickel, aluminium, cobalt) There is also a video abiut how to find the spot.. i tried and find it exactly like described. 👍

Yup Bessel IIIb is a brilliant planet if you can get the right spot. Took me a couple of tried but after getting it. It's a goldmine.

I had pirates attack a base once, so turrets super helpful there too! They invaded me like 5 minutes after placing down my outpost, no hesitation lol.

I have a Andaraphon outpost with Al, Fe, He and Be. So it is possible to have all 4 but from what I've heard it's decently rare.

@@InvidiousApple yeah saw this post on reddit or something about a dude who had all of them. That's when I went looking myself. Couldn't find a spot where I could get all 5 in the circle so I settled on just 4 though.

This is great video, one suggestion to make more accessible: Identify the corresponding buttons on Xbox, for instance E = Y on Xbox. Seems all the video makers are playing on PC!

Can you make a video about supply lines. Daisy Chains or multiple hubs that then ship out everything to the main base. I haven’t found a video that goes over the most efficient way to move items from multiple outposts to one main base. Also due to the fact that you can’t sort items in storage do you just dump all the different materials into a large storage facility. I would really appreciate it if you could go into this in detail. Currently I have 8 outposts and I’m still not sure what supply chain is the most efficient method. Thanks

There are so many things I hope they do to fix and optimize this system: 1) crew should be able to manage the outposts better and communicate with you in order to turn off a certain good manufacturing. 2) as a daisy chain of multiple foods comes through you should be able to set up the quantities that are “ordered” or shipped through each link, ie you have 10 different resources coming to an outpost ready to be pushed to to the next link, that outgoing (or incoming on the next planet) should be able to specify how many of each type come on each shipment. 3) outpost management may allow more than 3 landing pads. I haven’t even bothered with my own ship’s landing pad, because it would never land there, but I assume that’s one of the three as well. This could make the shipment centralization stronger by having multiple hubs instead of the daisy chain method. …just a few off the top of my head.

Bessel system. 3b iirc, just save before you land in case its not the right map. Bessel is insane its like 2 weeks of UT time for 24 hours. Took like an hour to find a good spot but its fairly easy for 5 resources. Iron and aluminum for sure.

Haaa!! I some how knew you'd show Jaffa VII-b. I discovered that moon pretty early on and built my first outpost there. That moon has pretty much everything you need to get going fast on Research.

Bessel 3 b is the best moon for your outpost hands down. Can build 1 base to harvest iron, nickel, cobalt and aluminum. Plus, 1 local hour is equal to 60 universal. Bessel 3 b also has a bunch of other resources, such as platinum and argon etc...

Hi, thanks for a great tutorial, much appreciated and I have now started to try and build my first outpost. However I have run into a serious problem straightaway, that is making building an outpost extremely difficult - I can't move my character one I enter build mode! Like many PC players, I remapped the ASWD for the arrow keys for character movement. But in build mode neither Arrow keys nor ASWD key will move the character. The only way to move is use the auto-move key (NumLock) which is a pain, and I'm sure not what Bethesda intended. Once I change view ('V' key) to bird's eye, I then can't move at all; I'm frozen to the spot until I change back to ground view. What is going on? How are PC players moving their character in build mode? Googling this problem shows I'm not alone in this, but no thread I came across had any answer. People were simply saying, "use the ASWD keys" but they don't work in build mode. Can you help with this - please.
