Starfield Review - I Didn’t Love It

Decided to take a break from the Halloween special to talk about Bethesda's new RPG, Starfield. And, uh oh, I no likey.

This was an absolute bad game for a lot of people, don't feel bad. A lot of people were disappointed

I have finished the game twice, going for my third run, I loved playing it, the story is not the greatest but it is interesting the first time you play. Overall I'd say it is a fun game that often crashes.

I seriously think if Bethesda made one of those smaller open worlds, like the Yakuza games or something, they would make something absolutely phenomenal. They got good at making engaging combat, they have a lot of interesting but half baked ideas, when they nail exploration and environmental storytelling it's really awesome...just abandon this need to make a gigantic empty world/universe and make a small world full of stuff to see and do, and focus more on quests with different choices with actual consequences, big worlds aren't impressive anymore.

Liking the game is good enough. We can't love everything. This why the word "love" doesn't mean much these days. Just like it and be happy. I think it's a very well thoughtout game and I've only played about an hour of it.

People moan about encumbrances but that's why it has a weightlifting skill tree, and you have companions who will carry your stuff till you put them in the cargo hold on your ship.
