I just finished it and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised, the beginning of the game is beautiful, almost entirely in zero gravity, and with many horror details that reminded me of the movie Alien. I thought the city was the best in the entire game, the planet has a unique atmosphere, I couldn't help but take hundreds of photos. It is a demanding expansion, I started at level 26 and I died many times even though the new weapons are hard, I recommend being level 30 at least.

The Space Combat itself was dine for the most part, just maybe poorly difficulty scaled in the early game, and then later on rarely challenging enough. @infinitysynthesis You know...or at least should know what OP is getting at. Idk why you felt the need to even say that lol. Everyone knows reviews are subjective inherently. But going beyond that, you can either go even further into being hardcore subjective, or take your subjectiveness and compliment it with objective points, criticisms, and measured looks at the game.
@alexlyster34595 күн бұрын
@infinitysynthesis You can give a Subjective opinion on a game while also giving an Objective take at the same time. Greg is very clear that his Subjective take is that this was his GoTY and is his favourite BGS game. He's also clear that objectively the game has flaws, and even many of the aspects which aren't technically flaws will still not be for everyone. Rather than many online reviewers who just like to jump on the whole "Mile wide, inch deep" sound bite hate train. For me, I'd say it's a game that's a 9/10-10/10 for some people if it's your thing and you buy into it, but only a 6/10-7/10 if it's not for you. This isn't an "oh yeah nearly everyone is going to give this an 8/10 game", and I see that as a good thing.
@infinitysynthesis5 күн бұрын
@@Mmachine88 You cannot have an objective opinion. Objective statements are facts, while subjective statements may or may not be entirely true as they are coloured by the opinions of the speaker. It's a pity Starfield won't spawn random weird worlds more often, I'd say that would increase replayability for many. I used mods so I could rp my character through every world and make her react to changes in the next universe. In some worlds I just collected the artifacts and every Starborn power then moved on, or made things more interesting and replayed few of the main sidemissions. Tried to be a pirate too but in next universe made redemption and did only good things. She is now level 128 and I have maxed every Starborn power to level 10. I quite literally can melt level ~90 terrormorphs in few seconds with Solar Flare, I can just watch them die. Fair to say I don't understand the hate the game gets (yes it's not perfect), I love Starfield and just finished Shattered Space too. The main quest at least, there's still bunch of sidemissions to do.

And besides they are giving you quite a big map, with a plethora of side quests and pois, with 7 new weapons, 5 new suits.... 30 for that seems more than fair..... Man and when Spiderman miles... Costed 50 for a 7 hrs story with nothing else in it, nobody complained ..... And only fans of BvS will get the comparison. The movie was a disaster in so many ways, but it was also such a great film and also such a bad one too. Starfield is obviously a far more competent product than BVS, but i do thibk its an apt comparison.

I agree with you and @alexlyster3459. Starfield, I feel, is not gonna be a mainstream success like Skyrim and Fallout 3-4. That's seven skill points I will never be able to spend because I only have one skill that isn't maxed, and it's the stupid Intimidation skill that... why? Just why? I have to intimidate 74 more people to max it out and I simply can't be arsed. Who cares about this skill. Anyway, I didn't get as much as I wanted from Shattered Space, but I got... enough. And yet I am disappointed, because I made up a bunch of stuff in my head that I expected from the expansion, and then it came out and none of the stuff I made up in my head was there! Imagine that. I mean, the cheek of these people, to utterly fail at delivering my fantasy expansion they knew absolutely nothing about. Intellectually I know it was unreasonable to expect any of that, and Bethesda have delivered a perfectly good expansion with plenty of perfectly good stuff and I should ought to be happy with it, but I am still kind of mourning the fantasy expansion I was wishing for.

Personally, I felt the fighting brothers quest was a prime example of how bad the dialogue/writing in Bethesda games can be. The dialogue performance and writing in that quest is so unnatural when compared to other modern games. The delivery of lines reminds me of how some people overact in a cheesy stage play rather than a normal conversation. It looks and sounds like animatronics at a Chuck E Cheese. It also feels like they don't know how to write quests in a way that logically makes sense for your player to become involved. You, a complete stranger, walk up the circle of conversation and all of a sudden within 60 seconds the NPCs decide you are going to play a pivotal role in managing and setting up a duel between two people you've never met. And all of the conversation before then unfolds in a wildly unnatural way to fill in any gaps of knowledge you might need for the quest. People might say "well that's just how quests are introduced, it'll always be somewhat unnatural", etc. But other RPGs do quest writing and introduction SO much better, where it makes sense for your player charcter to become involved and have a vested interest in the outcome. The NPC dialogue in some other games will be delivered with a much more convincing performance. Bethesda is still way behind the mark in this regard and it makes it hard for me to get invested in the universe when these interactions are so unconvincing.

Bethesda gets a pass seemingly all the time for this and it's infuriating. They can and should be able to do better, but we're consistently stuck with terrible writing, stilted acting performances, and awful scene direction.

It's because they get their quest makers to also do the writing, rather then hiring actual writers for the majority of quests (according to Jason Schrier)

Everyone: This expansion is better because it’s basically a completely different game, which is what we wanted from the base game, which was bad. Starfield Stans in the comments: SeE wE tOlD yOu It WaS gReAt!

I just remember when the game launched, I kept seeing people DEFEND bethesda's choice to not include land vehicles.......just to see a patch a year later that introduced land vehicles... and all those same people were now defending adding them 🤣🤣🤣

Well by definition people who liked the base game didn't find it to be bad. I know I didn't, I really loved it. That said, bow that we HAVE the big wide galaxy, it's nice that their DLCs are focusing on fleshing out individual locations. Those things are not mutually exclusive in being good.

Greg is a joke. Claiming he's put 10 hours alone into the main quest, its 4 hours long 😂😂😂 corporate shill 30 quid for a 4 hour, boring dlc with minimal effort put in. It's abysmal

Arguably the worst DLC of all time, easily clearing out P3R aigis dlc for worst of the year 💀how is the gap between access media and gamers this wide... no new companion, no new ship parts, new guns but reskinned standard assets, badly written boring ''story'' which lasts you 4-5 hours MAX, no new additions to existing mechanics, half dozen new locations. For 10 bucks would be one thing but this is 30 bucks, thats liberty city DLC pricing....

i couldn't disagree more...DLC made me uninstall the game after playing it for 3h...very very boring and it runs like hot garbage, somehow it's run worst after the update.

Greg is just a shill, let's be honest. For effed sakes when you pull up the main map for dazra you can see where they stitched together the square tiles of poi's just to make the map and be able to call it 'handmade'. This has been the worst demonstration of bad faith game reporting I've seen in my life just to maintain access media status. Dudes paycheck better be huge to sell out this low. It's like listening to a used car salesman but for a video game🤦

The DLC is awful….playing it about a month after Phantom Liberty for Cyberpunk 2077 has been extra hilarious. Now that’s an incredible DLC that expands on the base game in new and interesting ways. Shattered Space just doubles down on the dullest parts of Starfield. Bethesda needs to turn their shit around big time for the next Elder Scrolls or Fallout. Their design feels so insanely archaic at this point compared to their peers.

Greg nails it on the head here: "Starfield is a great game but it's still a very specific game." I'd say a large amount of people just wanted Fallout or Elder Scrolls in space and I think that that is a pretty fair expectation considering the types of games that Bethesda usually makes. But I also feel like a lot of people wanted that so much for this game that they refuse to try/see the unique aspects of it. Just because it isn't what you wanted/expected doesn't mean that it doesn't have merit. This will never be ES or FO, it's Starfield (for better or worse). Looking forward to jumping back in and trying Shattered Space at some point.
