Starfield Tips- How to Roleplay Your First Character

Hey yall whats up it's me, DMD, back with another video and today I wanted to make this one because I read some comments on my previous videos and saw some people talking about how they didn't want to do certain questlines because it didn't feel inline with their character.
I figured I could talk about my process and how I went about creating my first character in Starfield. This also applies to Bethesda RPGs in general so you can take these tips and use them in Elder Scrolls or Fallout!

The dancers in Neon always remind me of Jason Stackhouse dancing in a Reagan mask in True Blood. Lol I really liked being a beast hunter and a bounty hunter. It was fun to make up my backstory.

I'm RPing Spike Spiegel from cowboy bebop (it's definitely being done a lot but I love it) my first side mission was the bounty hunter's alliance on Mars and the Galbank debt hunter, fit perfectly. Good tips. I love your character.. I liked the skills that came with the Bounty Hunter background because I knew that I, the player, was going to have the most trouble with space combat in the beginning. So I chose that. I took the UC and Enlightened religious traits plus an oxygen one. My character is very buttoned up, and follows the rules and colors inside the lines. She was a bounty hunter because she did not want them to get away with mischief. But she found out that life was a little more complicated than she thought, so gave up her career and was working in a mine while she worked things out for herself. So that accounts for why she had piloting and combat skills and was open to adventuring. I am having less trouble with encumbrance because this woman does not take stuff that doesn't belong to her and no contraband. Looting bodies OK, meds and resources from abandoned labs is OK, but coffee mugs, nope. I think of this as a first playthrough, so I have no interest in even trying to see everything in one pass. I like having a specific personality type that makes decisions easier. Did a couple of jobs for the corporation on Neon and decided they were too shady for me. Never going back. Having a great time so far.

Not sure, may be more of an explorer/professor type to avoid combat, take tanky companion. Investigate outpost building. Also interested in ship building. Hope your playthrough is going well. Just got attacked by a horde at an abandoned mine.@@daddymacdown

I’m role playing as a bounty hunter that had to go into hiding as a miner because someone put a bounty on his head and he has no idea why. He joins Constellation and decides to face his problems head on as well as help other people with theirs

Thanks for another helpful video. Reminding myself to skill the way I’m actually enjoying playing, or play the way I’m actually enjoying skilling my character is my struggle. Get easily distracted. It’s kind like the dog in Up, squirrel!

I always follow whatever works for my character, and then on my next play through ill try other factions.

Roleplay will really open up once cheat mods for console are available, I’m currently roleplaying a retired UC soldier getting back into service and not helping Constellation, man it was a pain trying to get UC Security gear, a cheat mod would be great as then I could just go up to UC Security or that Commander to join the Vanguard and after joining just give myself the equipment to start off with.

Honestly they should have given us a set when doing the security questline! Now I have a stolen uc security gear that stays in my inventory the entire time. Can't wait till Shattered Space

@@daddymacdown You stole it? Why didn't you just look up if there was a way to get it? Just head to the space station orbiting the Moon, clear out the bad guys and you'll find a set. Then for a chance at the space suit head to Alpha Cantauri, Planet Olivas, Moon Voss, the space station orbitting Voss, clear it out, loot the UC Security corpses, or head to a UC Surplus in the Well in New Atlantis and buy UC Marine space gear as an alternative if needed. ANd for another chance head to Altair and complete the quest there. You will get the Peacekeeper AR great for UC character roleplay and a chance of looting more UC gear. Then for a UC model ship head to the Diemos Shipyard near Mars and buy one there, preferably the Longsword to start with.

My first character is a money hungry ex bounty hunter and neon street rat that’s wanted for killing the wrong bounty, in an effort to hide my identity I joined the first mining crew going off world and ended up finding the artifact. Now after joining constellation my identity is exposed and mercs track me down wherever I go trying to claim my bounty.

Are you still playing starfield? I’m going back into it and trying to really get immersed and am open to tips. Specifically I’d love to just minimize the quick jumping across the galaxy via the menu and star map really without ever having to walk much.

The character I am playing is a retired diplomat turn Dusty. His parents came back into his life at the age of 45. Just like all parents the dood over him. as a diplomat, he was able to put away a bunch of credits and buy his first home. During which time he met, a young man who became a friend/sidekick. To join them on this new adventure with this group called constellation. His moral compass is a little jaded from his age. What used to be black and white is now gray.
