I just opted for this ship the day after your Kepler R video on my ng+ play through. Very nice base ship to mod with a good look and plenty of space for a everyday driver. Good review

The mobility is red because when you started build mode the mobility was 82 and your modifications made it 80. Game just warning you made a stat worse.

Frankly the base cargo storage levels are silly especially based on the weight vs capacity. ( you could park 2 modern fullsize SUVs in those cargo holds) for about 4,000lbs capacity which is what I get with the 3x cargo mod I use. But BGS thought processes like the 80% registration tax always boggle my mind.

Thanks for the breakdown part of this video! I got the Kepler R so it would be C class (for the reactor power; I'm gonna change the engines) and have guns already, but it's such a fugly monstrosity. I'm gonna use this video to go by and basically transform my Kepler R into the Kepler S with guns and more cargo (and either one of the Stroud side landing bays, or put the Taiyo one at the front of the ship; I can't stand having the landing bay at the rear on a huge ship like this, lol).

Im going straight for the 6830's on this beast when i get to NG+. Going to also hide the missile posmd inside the outermost wing pod tips and add a set of stroud engine bracers (the sideways ones) in between each engine. Might also bump the reactor and grav drive up a class, but its damn near perfect as is. I was so irritated because i specifically tried to get the Kepler R my first go around and then never used it and then sold it. Should have gone for this. Im on my 9th major structural overhaul on the Star Eagle currently. Got it at level 14 and im now level 70 without having gone into NG+ or completing the main storyline once. Im attempting to vastly overlevel so i can easily take on the Hunter and the Emissary cause i made them both mad 🤣🤣🤣

Class C Kepler R has 3550 cargo in 9 modules. The Class B Kepler S has 3200 cargo in 2 modules. Make it make sense lol.

That is a Very nice Fighter, you build it in a very similar way I was planing to if I had gotten it, I went with the R because I wanted a cargo vessel, and so far, have not been able to build a better cargo ship then what I've done to the R, while still having a very sleek desing, or so I believe it have. Honestly would like to see another secondary mission that could give us or at least unlock the S, even if it is only on NG+ or after clearing the game but not going to NG+ yet. Personaly, I've reach level 88 and still have not went to NG+, and I really don't feel like finishing the main quest just yet, ship building and outpost building and planet exploration is too fun to lose it right now, trying to document my ship designs for when I decide to go for NG+. I've gotta ask, if you've build a ship with cargo in mind, what ship have you build what's it's stats? So far, my Kepler R, mostly redesigned though but keeping the Stern, botton and landing gear design and locations, managed to have just over 14.400 cargo without cargo skill, with the skill it is over 20k and I still need one more level to max the skill. I uses the Panoptes engines with 4 energy points each, 2 turrets sets and one controlable gun set, all particle. Mobility is around 40, a but under, or a bit more, honestly, it's mobility is bad but it doesn't matter with this set up, it easiear to fly then my dedicated fighters and flagship but it have every module we need for crafting and space for each crew member, and a crew of 9 in theory. Would like to see your cargo ship if you have any, since, let's be real, currently having That much cargo is not exactly great, unless we're selling outpost farmed resorces, that's my main use for my Kepler R.

I would that Kepler the Kepler F, the F for Fighter. I thought the S for the Kepler standed for Sport.

I haven’t completed the Overdesigned quest yet because I cannot decide if I want the S or the R. I know I can completely rebuild the R, but that’s a lot of work and at this point in the game I already have a couple of class C cargo ships that are far better than the R. My thought is to get the streamlined S and convert it to a class C reactor, add a couple of shielded cargo holds and make it a highly maneuverable fighter that bristles with weaponry. That said, I haven’t tried to convert a B class to a C class, so I am not sure if the Sheared Flow class C reactor is compatible.

It will be compatible, you'll just need to make a little more space for the c class reactor

I made a commitment to myself, before I even bought the game, that I wouldn't buy any ships. That restricts me to free ships and ones I get by taking over a ship. The Kepler R comes with great class C engines that only unlock when you complete the quest. They are then available for any ship build going forward. I don't think you get them with the Kepler S. That's a class B ship, right? Isn't there a shield generator that unlocks from that quest line as well?

I heard there was a weapon unlocked from the quest but even after having done the quest I know nothing about it. I gotta look into the engines. @@dondurham5264

@@dondurham5264 I haven’t bought a ship yet and I really don’t see myself buying one. It’s too easy to board/take enemy vessels and modify/upgrade them. I love my Claymore and my Hyena. Awesome ships that are customized to meet my needs. And yes, the S is a B-class, so it needs all-new reactor/grav drive/weapons/shield (which is no problem since I have lvl 4 ship design). Not sure about the shield generator because I haven’t done that quest yet.

If Taiyo Astroneering ships are to be luxurious then they should look the part, the beds, kitchens and bathrooms are low tier in design.

Far more streamlined than the Kepler Boondoggle, but that also makes it far more boring IMO... Having the Valkyrie cockpit and a Control Stations hab gives it 8 crew stations, which would match the maximum you can get from your skill(leaving aside Sarah as the free 9th member). So if you slapped on some Vanguard Obliterators and the A Class Slayton engines you could crank up the capacity and have yourself a decent starship.

In general, I like the ship. By the time I got around to getting this quest reward, I already had a custom C-class monster ship. Obviously, the budget option leaves a LOT of potential on the table. I actually prefer that to the other version of the Kepler. The "R" is a gaudy, tacky man-cave poster print. The "S" is closer to a blank canvas. Even if the end result comes out to be a man-cave painting, it will at least be a custom one.
