I think it was stated in S8 canonically by RepliSam, that Daniel STILL possesses all the ascended knowledge he had, including the complete knowledge of the ancients - it's just buried DEEP in his memory. But, he's slowly unlocking it. So, it's possible one day, ole' Danny boy might finally recall a critical memory that would allow him to find data on the "potentia". Because that's the problem. The Tau'ri HAVE the full ancient database, but the ancients don't call the ZPM's.... ZPMs. In fact they are not catagorized as power units as all. The Tau'ri have no idea what the Ancient's called them. Until they know that, they have no idea what to search for, as the database is immense.

Unless the other Ascended Beings sent him back with a properly wiped memory since Oma did not do it. Additionally, you got Merlin's overwriting and wiping his brain which could easily take all the Ancient knowledge with it. As for the ZPM - Knowing the name means nothing. You think Atlantis had 5+ years to search that database backwards and forwards without trying anything related to ZPMs. The only way you get away with that is by very bad TV show writing.

Usul573 Well technically you're not wrong. The arrival of the Atlantis Expedition did trigger a Wraith Civil War because the Wraith had been awoken from their slumber way too early and their "herds" of human cattle hadn't replenished to sufficient numbers to feed all of them. They also had to contend with Atlantis, the only civilization advanced enough to put up a decent fight, and in later episodes the Wraith become so desperate that they have no choice but to align with Atlantis in order to survive against mutual foes such as the Asuran Replicators and Michael's Hybrids. I think the Wraith would end up losing the war regardless so some of the wiser/pessimistic queens probably wouldn't object to such desparate tactics to try and defeat Atlantis. And also considering Atlantis was responsible (directly and indirectly) for bringing the Asurans and Michael onto the galaxy...yeah the Wraith have tons of reasons to oppose Atlantis.

The problem is that the writers went back to using worn-out character and plot devices such as Mackay's constant whining and Rush's extreme narcissism. Stargate SG1 only used those devices on occasion. They didn't make those the main elements of the entire series. Jackson might have been a bit of a nerd, but he was a capable beefed-up nerd with a gun. And Carter only had to be told on occasion to tone down the technobabble.
