Honestly, after burying their gate, what's the probability that the Nox actually phase-cloaked their planet to deal with Goa'uld coming in ships as O'neill suggested. Alternatively though, perhaps the planet was always phase-cloaked, they just didn't realise it as access by the gate was the only way seen to get to it in the episode, even for Apophis who could have came by ship if he really wanted with a larger contingent of Jaffa.

Agree with you about the overall series, but this episode in particular I always found quite disappointing. Especially considering it included my favourite trope. An alternative/parallel universe. When I think back to season one where they visited an alternate earth under attack from the Go’uld, that episode had so much action and good story telling in it. By comparison this episode felt like it could have been a very similar premise, but they didn’t really do anything with it. It was just Sam in a lab at the SGC from what I recall.

@@Ctar99n Gravity is actually generated by the Earth's mass itself and would have shifted along with the planet. (and an object in motion tends to stay in motion; it's also possible that over time the Earth would have left the star system instead of curving along its orbit, this isn't something that would happen quickly, it would take weeks.) It is true, however, that light, with it's unique property of being both a wave and a particle, might still affect the planet.

Just note that the Ori came with five ships. The first wave only had four (at least in the prime timeline), intended to convert the entire galaxy. Despite everything, this SGC must've been a real thorn in their side for a while. Even the Asgard homeworld was only attacked by three Ori ships.

the Sodan warriors phase shifted and didn't immediately fly off the earth or pass through the ground. they where still bound to the earth and the ground like the rest of us. it's likely the technology being advanced enough to phase shift matter is able to take this issue in to account

It probably would be, but consider that the Moon takes one full month to make a revolution around Earth. A few minutes won't make very much difference, and a few hours means that the orbit will end up being a bit more eccentric. It'll do wonky stuff to the tides, but better than being orbitally bombarded.

@@Ragitsu Yea, but it's been shown on more than a few occasions that even they couldn't do everything, and that some of the tech they created was so inherently dangerous that they just straight up abandoned it. It is likely that even phased out, gravity would still affect them... as already pointed out, the Sodan don't just drift away, nor did Carter and Mitchell when that same device was used to hide a village house from a Prior in one of the other episodes in season 10... but even if it didn't, it's just as likely that the length of time they phased the planet out for was so minuscule that there wouldn't have been time for things to drift far enough apart that they wouldn't just snap back into place, as it were, when they phased back and gravity started affecting Earth and the moon again.

The gu uald could have cone back. The replicators could have wiped out all life. Dafeated the entiritey of the guuald freeing countless planets. Allied with the asgards who ended up needing the AMERICANS help to even survive. Should i go on?? Yes in the real world the ums meddles in wayyyy to much international sht. But this is a tv show, and your literally siding with the bad guys. Would you rather have a free universe and the occasional enemy to deal with that sg1 always beats, or no technilogical or space advancements for hundreds of years but a random chance you dont get suddenly wiped out. The Nox are so far beyond everyone else that the only beings that likely eclipse them in potency are the ascended Ancients and the Ori. Furthermore, the Nox are an old race...they've probably seen analogous series of events play out many times over. I am aware that this show is very pro-interventionism (it has to be, as the US government's policy has been to stick its nose everywhere in all arenas of interest, be it out of greed or arrogance), but there _were_ a few episodes that showed how advanced races interacting with lesser races resulted in numerous disasters. There's a fine line between "helping" and "ruling" and they know that it is best to keep away as much as possible.

Sam had multiple episodes concerning gender politics and the effect that they had on her - because the show had some level of awareness of these issues - in other words, it was 'woke'. And there is nothing wrong with this, although the term itself has been overused in the wrong circumstances and is now considered a detriment. Imagine that - saying that it's bad to be aware. Friend the way you're using 'woke' is basically meaningless. If you like Stargate and its broadly egalitarian, cosmopolitan outlook then you're as 'woke' as anyone. I HATE Star Trek Picard. I don't hate Star Trek Picard because it's been taken over by 'woke moralists trying to force their politics on me', I hate it because I think it's a corporate product created to make a quick buck that has few (if any) writers that care about or even watched all of TNG. Whatever politics or message there may or may not have been were irrelevant, it was just haphazardly planned out and poorly written. Don't let the Benny Shapiros of the world infect you with their brain rot because a TV show was bad. Bad TV has been made since we had TV.
