The line Daniel is allowed to cross is more or less the same as Anubis. He can use whatever mortal Daniel Jackson might have been able to muster. That's why he's thinking so hard and doing the glasses thing. He's trying to remember being just Daniel, and shut off ascended knowledge. Fun moment.

Yeah. Knowledge at that level, probably needs to be "accessed" in a wilful manner. If you access it, the others would know, and thus (in this case) intervene. He's not accessing it, so technically speaking not breaking the rules!

@@ThePCguy17 Nothing in the show... or in the franchise, to my knowledge... specifically states that you suddenly gain super strength or x-ray vision, etc. You can control your energy, as seen by Daniel when he tries to strike down Anubis, and become a purely energy-based being, but you don't suddenly become Superman just because you've ascended to a higher state of being. At best, your physical form is perfected in the sense that you no longer have any afflictions (illness, hunger/thirst, you can't be physically damaged, etc), and you can learn all sorts of things, but it doesn't mean you can physically overpower a mighty warrior, etc. They sum it up nicely when Daniel and Jim are in the ascended realm and are talking about Anubis. They can only do whatever they could have done as a mortal. They're not allowed to use any knowledge or abilities gained through ascension. It's also why Daniel can't just walk through the walls to find the Eye of Ra, and why he can't see in the dark...

This is how I see it, Daniel is staying within the limits imposed by the Ascended by not directly telling anyone to perform any actions and not explicitly answering any potential questions. Assuming he already knows the solution and could phase into the chamber and the only reason he hasn't already is because it would be considered blatant interference, breaking down his responses would look like: 1. Daniel: "I always thought there might be a secret chamber here." (This one is fairly simple, but he doesn't straight up say that the chamber is absolutely right here, and he is intentionally speculating out loud. He's basically saying, "It could be here, maybe, or somewhere else, perhaps.") 2. Daniel: "This section talks about how Ra draws his power from the sun." (Reading out loud isn't illegal, apparently.) 3A. Sam: "Can't you just zip into the wall and see if there's something on the other side?" 3B. Daniel: "It's complicated." (He can phase through the wall, and could probably phase the Eye of Ra out of the chamber, but directly handing it over to SG-1 or preventing the Goa'uld from obtaining it is definitely overstepping his bounds.) 4A. Jonas: "Some kind of trigger for a secret door. The rays of the sun reveal all. The rays of the sun... there's no... sunlight. Do you think any light will do?" 4B. Daniel: "It's possible." (He's neither confirming nor denying but still responding in a way that subtly acknowledges that Jonas could be onto something instead of responding dismissively like, "I don't know, maybe there's something missing.") 5A. Jonas: "I thought we were onto something." 5B. Daniel: "You are." (This is probably his most egregious sentence. He's directly confirming their actions, but I suppose it is possible that since he's responding to a general statement and wasn't the one that told Jonas to point the light that he's in the clear.) 6A. Jonas: "It's not working." 6B. Daniel: "It's red." (Referring solely to the color of the mural, not that red has anything to do with the solution.) 6C. Jonas: "What is?" (Literally asking what Daniel was referring to, the mural.) 6D. Daniel: "The rays of the sun on the fresco are red. Sam." (He responds to Jonas first, saying that he was referring to the mural being red, then catches Sam's attention. He doesn't tell Sam to do anything or give her any information, hoping that she can figure it out. She realizes that since her laser is red that she could try it.)

@@derianvandalsen Gliders weren't designed to "fight" eachother. They are only needed to keep the settlements, punish humans, travel through the Stargate. They don't really need them in battle. They have unlimited amount of Jaffa for fighting on the ground and motherships when fighting in the air or space. Therefore they don't need firepower or shields. They are just used to show off or explore. That is why the motherships don't carry hundreds of these, just a bunch. The earliest iterations of manmade fighters could take them on. Or just send a modern AA vehicle through the gate and those are useless. But the mothership just flies above and annihilates anything from space.

The Tok’ra always talk about blending between symbiote and host with residual effects still having bearing on both beings even after separation. However, I don’t really see any residual effects in either Jack nor in Skaara. In Carter, yes, but writers never explored the possibilities with Jack or Skaara. It would have been most interesting if Jack continued to have memories of his former Tok’ra as the series progressed. The knowledge it no doubt had passed on to Jack and Samantha would no doubt have had some additional benefit beyond what was actually put into the show. If there is any books about this I’d be interested in reading them.

@@Ragitsu Lasers are a single wavelength of light, between 638nm and 670nm. Either they were extremely lucky and crystal was tuned to the exact frequency of Sam's laser sight, or it accepts red light of any wavelength. White light is all wavelengths of visible light including red so the flashlight should have activated it too.

All that it has to do when having light pointed at it is measure the intensity of the light wavelengths and determine just how red something is. When something shows as only red or majority red it activates. When something shows as red, green, blue, yellow, violet it goes “oh ok not opening now”

SG-1 is a classic but the overall consistency went out the window on a seasonal basis. Turns out all of this was here when they were in the movie... and it took them 6 years to bother exploring this temple. You can exclude the first year because Daniel told them to bury the gate... but they had at least 5 years to send ANY kind of team to do some exploring. The vagueness of Daniel being unable to use his magic powers is equally lame - "It is complicated" = "I am not allowed to because the writers need the plot to happen and have not really thought about the "rules" yet"

Result: Teal'c completely forgot about the capabilities of the Goauld in S1 despite serving directly as a First Prime.
