02:48 - I'm fairly certain RDA actually got his finger pinched in the staff mechanism when it closed. It's too subtle of an acting choice for the O'Neill character usually, and it's never really been established that getting your finger pinched was a hazard of the staff weapons. I think he got his finger pinched, stayed in character, finished the scene, and it wound up adding a bit of additional layering to the exchange, so they kept it.

Note Anubis’ First Prime doesn’t stop the chatter until Jonas starts saying things to unite them. I also love the way he goes to stand right next to O’Niell and in the middle of SG-1. He knows O’Niell knows what he’s going to do, and he stares at him the entire time until he does it.

There's a reason that Anubis's first Prime always stuck in my memory decades later. Colonel is exclusively a military term for Tau'ri. Yet even though he has hatred and absolute disgust for O'neill and his team, earth, and anyone that opposes his Lord Anubis, he still addresses things accordingly to their culture. Even though he views other planets as beneath him and his God, he still doesn't think they are worthless to disregard a nothing. There's just something about it that makes me absolutely squee whenever the Goa'uld and Jaffa address O'Neil as Colonel. Also here's your obligatory Stargate quote tax: " Our Shields are of no use!"

It's amazing Baal was able to pull off a attack like this against a ship as advanced as Anubis's mothership with only 5 or 6 Ha'tak when later Yu's system lord flotilla of at least a dozen or more Ha'tak didn't even make a dent. Of course Baal's ships were hammering away for a longer period of time so maybe that makes the difference idk. Regardless this show's off how cunning and ruthless the Goa'uld can be in war. If a enemy like the Ori or Wraith were to invade the milky at the peak of there empire it makes you wonder how it would have gone down when both adversaries are equally without ethics.
@jbz4788 Жыл бұрын
Yu’s attack on Anubis’ ship was before this not after. And they stated at some point that the shield strength is significantly weaker while in atmosphere. Add element of surprise (likely not having shields active when the ships first turned up to not waste power) and the result is one blown up ship in very little time.

I liked Anubis, because he was Uber-Evil, I just think they tried to make him do too much. The kull warriors were a shitty idea though, I will agree.
@DomWeasel2 жыл бұрын
@@Theomite I thought the Kull Warriors were brilliant. The Goa'uld have been using the Jaffa for millennia with their extremely inefficient weapons and tactics and Anubis changes the power balance drastically by taking advantage of technology mostly already available to them but they never used because they never thought to. The Kull make sense too given the Goa'uld mindset; you have soldiers that are unquestioningly loyal and devoted. And they weren't invincible. The Tau'ri and Tok'ra quickly developed a weapon that could take them down, they just never disseminated it to the System Lords. The only real question is why more people didn't use their armour the way Vala did, being immune to that weapon and therefore invulnerable.
