That was the best thing about Stargate SG-1, the action. No show before and no show after had ever had that amount of action per episode ever.😎👍
@StargateCommand5 жыл бұрын
I think what makes all Stargate series interesting is the action, mixed with real world / modern day settings and issues. The 'stargate / wormhole' concept is so brilliant because it's not only the ability to travel to new worlds, but really it's an imagination of how we might have turned out on Earth had certain historical events changed or turned out differently. If you're digging the battle scenes compilation, head over to Stargatecommand.co and check out our Top 7 Hand-To-Hand Combat scenes (link in the description). This has got to be the best SciFi series ever made. This statement includes ALL of Stargate.
@charlesmcgehee32275 жыл бұрын
That can not be really argued. The very best series for sure. There have been some great SciFi movies. 2001 A Space Odessy was the first time I saw realistic, futuristic space travel and ships. And don't forgot H.A.L. Arguably the first convincing A.I. Our Junior High School took us all to see it when it first came out. People didn't get it at first.

@SeraphX25 жыл бұрын
Ruben Kelevra but even then. it didn't have a real story line. and that's always bugged me. I mean. it comes from a day when episodic was more important than a full blown story. if it wasn't for the overall great acting and Picard, Voyager would easily outstrip TNG for me. But still, SG is leagues beyond all of those, imo; even SGU.

Well chosen battles. I think the first real battle was at the end of Season 1 and the first episode of Season 2. A small group pushed the Goa'uld out of our space! The battle over Antarctica and the scenes leading up to it were about the best battles. Your emphasis on the excellent special effects from that era, for Television, is absolutely true. This clip you have done reminds me I need to watch the whole 10 seasons and the 2 movies again. I have watched it all more times I can count. For awhile I had dreams based on that show for many nights. One morning I woke up and had a whole new episode written in my head. (and I am not mentally ill!) I loved it when Teal'c shot down Tanith. He got stuck in the rig memory and that was an early Rodney McKay appearance. Great actor for his role. Stargate Command. I miss you guys. I have been busy and missed a lot of your videos. @charlesmcgehee32275 жыл бұрын
@Stink Wrinkles Well SG-1 did get all of that great tech from Thor. Samantha Carter programmed it to build here a Cello and then she learned to play it. That ship was not as weapon-heavy as the Ori ships though. So I do agree that a few of those ships would have made Earth quite strong. A few Ori vessels would have eaten the Wraith alive! Another fierce weapon was that sattelite weapon the Replicators sent to try and destroy Atlantis.

I think the show writers created the Stargate as Goa'uld Technology and then added the Ancients later and made them be the creators. Because the gate looks a lot like Goa'uld archeticture unlike the 3rd Generation Gate which fits perfectly to the architecture of the Alterans. And the first Gen Gate also looks exactly like Destiny so it fits too.

Why were there replicator bits when the ground battles from Stronghold, Out Of Mind / Into the Fire, and Icon are so much more compelling, intricate, and impactful, among many others? Replicator shootouts aren't compelling, they're simply holding actions while the real efforts take place elsewhere. There is no emotion, no empathetic tug-of-war, no real reason to invest when you know that it's about as meaningful as tossing a stone to distract someone while you sneak by to open the gate & let in the hordes.

The realism and grittiness of SG-1's action scenes was one of the things that set it apart from other scifi shows. My personal favourite is this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGbZmaeBn5hjmac - the dynamics of them taking it in turns to hold off the replicators, the Replicator getting shot just above Daniel's head, the muzzle flash rebounding off the walls, perfect.

The Jaffa were depowered so much that at that point in the series the Jaffa were basically just Power Ranger Putties and had become comedic relief. When they do another series hopefully the villains will be able to hit what they're shooting at for the simple reason when the villian is on their game, as when Janet died, it makes the heroes more heroic and the villians more threatening. A fine list, but I'd have swapped out #6 for either the rescue of SG-1 from Hathor or the SGC going to save Teal'c from Baal (I forget if it was Season 9 or 10. The one where Bra'tac kicked things off by bombing the target from an Alkesh), and rearranging the order as necessary. Your #6 doesn't really count as a battle for me, rather a narrow escape.

Just got through SG-1 and now on the second season of Atlantis. So far, SG-1 was much better.

I've got to admit that the Siege of Atlantis was waaaaaaay more epic than any of SG-1's.

One small clarification: The name of Russian SS was really "Korolyov" (lit. "son of king") it was the last name of Sergei Pavlovich Korolyov, famous Soviet rocket/spaceship designer and builder. His "Vostok" SLV pulled Yury Gagarin into very first manned orbital flight. The mess with "-ev" and "-yov" is because Russian norms of writing: if the word is well-known, it is permitted to use letter "e" (е) instead of letter "yo" (ё). For example, "yozh" ("ёж" - hedgehog) may be written as "ezh" ("еж" - "hegehook"), but it should be pronounced as "yozh" anyway. And when transliterating Russian names into Latin alphabet, it is required to made exact sound correspondings.

@@Sergei_Agarkoff Wow, I didn't know that. Although I know that a lot Russian (and also European) names get changed to fit US language. I figured it was someone famous, just not sure who. Genuinely, thankyou for pointing this out, it's nice to know that UK isn't the only country that get annoyed with the American way of changing words. (Yes, I'm aware that English as a language is made from a dozen others over centuries).

At your service. In this case no AmeriKa-style involved. More possible that SGx-makers asked some native Russian-speaking person about "How to write down the transliteration of Korolyov's last name?". And that person wrote "Korolev", as he could write in Russian, without visual designation of sound "yo" instead of "e".

Here are some battle scenes that are better: - Battle at the supergate - Space Battle with the Replicator Hatak Class Ship Fleet... - The System Words uniting against Anubis's flag ship. The Battle over Antartica and the Battle at the Supergate should be very close for the first spot...
