I actually like that that joke was also the writers "hanging the lantern" to acknowledge their change because the virgin birth story is usually attributed to Merlin, not Arthur. Ambrosius Aurelianus is Merlin, not Arthur. The joke is their way of changing the story from Merlin enchanting Pendragon so he could sleep with Igraine to Merlin enchanting Igraine altogether.
@jayburn009 ай бұрын
@@ChibiHoshiDragon there are so many different versions of Arthur in different legends there might be a virgin birth legend out there. Also in some legends, Merlin is the son of the Devil and a witch.

hehe "kawoosh" came from online fandom (actually quite a few things on the show did, planet/character/alien names, random stuff they ate on screen, casting of certain actors, etc...,), we'd been saying that since season 1 to describe the flushing stargate vfx.

I'm always happy when Vala returns! I actually love how the Ori were introduced as a similar type of antagonist as the Goa'uld, but they raised the stakes and had a bit of a darker undertone. Stargate managed to continuously increase tension without going too far, like many shows of that era did. And thanks for these reaction videos!!
@FMJaqenHghar9 ай бұрын
Goa'uld ☝🤓
@EvHervey9 ай бұрын
I mean, that is one generous way of describing the Ori and the Priors. But OK... raised stakes, and increased tension... right on the episode where we find out Vala's "death" was BS. Interesting.
@Cedrog9 ай бұрын
@@EvHervey What do you mean Vala's death was BS? If you mean when she destroyed the supergate, they said at the end of the episode that they detected something that indicates she was transported to the Ori galaxy so we already knew she wasn't dead.
@EvHervey9 ай бұрын
@@Cedrog Right, it's implied in that episode and confirmed in this one. There was no risk of her death. No tension. At all. Earlier, Vala burns to death, only for it to be obviously, immediately undone. No tension. At all. This is why the remake of Battlestar Galactica made these last 2 seasons look so crap. A complete lack of stakes, and the difference between telling the audience that there are stakes and delivering on said stakes.
@Cedrog9 ай бұрын
@@EvHervey Well yeah that's plot armor, that's not different than the first 8 seasons or any other shows for that matter, especially during that time. It's only more or less recently that show takes more risks by having main character dying.

You are not ready for the season finale, one of the best ways to end a season. Also idk if this makes it to you for the season finale. But the Russian F304 will be called the Korolev, named after Sergey Korolev, the guy that was more or less the father of the soviet space program. So it is a name with pretty huge historical significance.

That clinking of soldiers marching is the biggest plot armor in Stargate always alerting the team when an enemy is coming. The Goa'uld did it, the Ori do it and even the Wraith do it.
@ChibiHoshiDragon9 ай бұрын
Have you never heard a platoon of fully decked out regular troops pass by? You make a noise when you are marching in unison in your Cammies, your Jungle boots, the rifle over your shoulder, the Alice Pack on your back, the belt on with your canteen and cup, the extra mags, etc.
@cmudd97889 ай бұрын
@@ChibiHoshiDragon I was in the army so yes, I have heard what of platoon of soldiers sounds like but security patrols around a facility usually don't consist of a whole platoon or even a whole squad. It's usually 1, maybe 2 security officers and they're not marching around making a bunch of noise. In Stargate it's done for plot armor. I'm not complaining about it. I just think it's funny.

@@cmudd9788 A BDU wearer 4th Battalion Parris Island myself Security is MP/SF and are more police and have different rules and basic gear than infantry. I don't see Jaffa, Mask-wearing Wraith drones or Ori Conscripts as having a sub-policing force or other MOS, they are strictly ground-pounder military - peasants not knights. So they are going to sound similar to Ground Pounders specifically, not all of the military in general. I don't think they even have a corpsman/medic. They are all artillery/infantry. The Techs and other MOSs (Comm/Supply/Mechs/Admins/Intel/etc) are performed by a different portion altogether (Goa'uld/Long-haired Wraith soldiers, Scientists and workers/Prior) The lower echelons travel in larger groups and in their loud uniforms like peasants/infantry. The higher echelons don't have that (The worker or soldier wraith have their stealth and mind powers) and travel in smaller groups or alone. Semper Fi
