Yeah I remember coming home from work on Fridays and switching off to this show and I'd have to wait a week to see how it all fleshed out. Hasn't been the same since SGU finished. Part of it is the streaming binge era but other side is he way politics and ideology is infesting films and TV shows. If Star Wars and other stuff is anything to go by even if Stargate was getting made at the moment I'm not sure if it would be immune so it might be a blessing that there is a hiatus as many Star Wars fans would rather have had more Clone Wars instead of the Disney Sequel Trilogy I'm willing to bet. In terms of this show a definite cultural change when O'Neil became a General but it made sense to evolve it that way.

Ahh good ole Stargate, doing crossover episodes before crossovers became all the hype in t.v and movies. Also I love how this particular Jumper is the same one we see later on in the season 1 Stargate Atlantis episode "Before I Sleep." After Elizabeth traveled back in time ensuring that Atlantis survives the expeditions arrival, this must be one of the planets Janus continued his work on after the Ancients returned to the Milky Way. Gotta give credit to the writers, this was a really cool way of rewarding the fans who watched both shows.

@@robinhyperlord9053 This particular episode is more of a crossover of ideas, themes and technologies. The ship they are in is called a Puddle Jumper and they play a pretty significant role on the spin off series Stargate Atlantis which is also where they were first introduced. Even more so, this particular Puddle Jumper has been modified to also be a time machine and will not only play a significant part in the Season 8 finale but got essentially own origin story in the Stargate Atlantis season 1 episode "Before I sleep."

Many other shows did crossovers long before this; Star Trek (TNG/DS9/Voyager), Happy Days (L&S, M&M), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Angel). To say it somehow became magically "popular" after Stargate did it is disingenuous. It has always been a popular way to promote spin-off series and almost every show that created a spin-off has done it.

Yeah this series really was the bomb, it was done to perfection almost. I mean some episodes made no sense, complete lack of strategic thinking from alot of ppl but still, it did make it more fun. For example the time they destroyed the replicator city, it still bothers me that even the wraith pulled off a heist for a bag full of ZPMs but they didnt even think of it with blood invisible jumpers.. i mean in that situation, no military personal would have gone and attacked them and not steal some ships and ZPMs, like literally they sucked the replicators out of their ships, they were completely empty, just send like 20 ppl to different ships and simly steal them. U would have a giant fleet of ships in perfect condition... Not to mention all of those ships were powered by ZPM of their own, i mean replicators had unlimited amount of ZPMs theres no way they didnt use those to power each of their ships.

@@lukegauci1159 I would love to know where are vital points of the Hat´tak were. Hitting such spots wouldn´t only nead enough firepower to overcome the shields that didn´t proof anything in terms of the acients being that powerfull or the Goa´uld that crap. That said we need to consider if the acients are that powerful that only a transporter is powerful enough to destroy a Hat`tak, then how powerful would be true acients warships (i don´t know if they had dedicated warships and if not then the weapons on the transporter could be considered to be on the most powerful of the ancients weapon technology scale) But lets speak about the Goa´Uld. Who do they had to fear in our galaxy? Mostly the Asgard, Tollans and Nox. They didn´t go to the homeworld of the Nox and didn´t knew anything about them because the Nox hide from them, The Tollans had their Ion Cannons on their planet who could easily destoy Hat`taks and they didn´t could find a answer to that until Anubis appeard with some knowledge that gave him a unfair advanteage. And the Goa`Uld where no match for the Asgards and their only lucky that the Asgard where involved with fighting another enemy. And again after Anubis the advantage of the Asgard dissapeard. Since Tollan, Nox and Asgard didn´t challanged the domination of the Goa`Uld in the MilkyWay, the only enemies the Goa´Uld System Lords have only the other System Lords as real threat in mind with the Tok´Ra as a annoyance, that are other System Lords and Goa´Ulds. And since Goa`Uld and Tok`Ra use mostly similare technology, the way their technology, ships and that all would evolve where primarily focused on facing this enemies. Against every other enemy at the beginning of Stargate, the tactic of avoiding was the most succesful strategy. Asgard: Just don´t challenge them or attack one of the protected planets. Tollan: Don´t fly towards their planet and their Ion Cannons don´t harm you. Nox: They don´t really know about them and they avoided mostly the planet of the Nox.
@lukegauci1159
@lukegauci1159 Жыл бұрын
@@Phoenixfede1989 wow you really know nothing about Stargate. Firstly its called a Puddle Jumper not a transporter. Secondly, the Asgard were starting to struggle aginst Anubis. Thirdly the Nox survive because they have cloaking technology. Fourthly the Tollens were infact wipped out by the Goa'uld because of their over confidance in their weapons and they underestimated Anubis. Finally, the Ancients had warship, bloody hell they flew their whole city to another galaxy! Had the Goa'uld come face to face with the Aurora or the Orian, they wouldn't have lasted two minutes. Anubis had the best shield in the Goa'uld fleet and the ancient drones tore him to pieces. The Goa'uld steal technology, nothing they have was their own work.
@Phoenixfede1989
@Phoenixfede1989 Жыл бұрын
@@lukegauci1159 1. I haven´t seen Stargate for a long time. 2. I didn´t watched Atlantis or Universe at all so excuse me for not knowing what kind of ships the Ancients had at their disposal and just because they could fly their one city to another galaxy didn´t mean automaticly that they would have warships. That i didn´t know the name of the Puddle Jumper anymore doesn´t change the statemant of the original poster that declared this vessel a unshielded transport shuttle and i take my declaration of the vessel of his post. As for the Tollans, Nox and Asgard, you mostly repeated in other words the points i made about them. Asgards had a war against the Replicants in their own galaxy that occupied most of their fleet thats why the Asgard make the protected planets treaty with the goa´uld. so they weren´t that much of a threat for the galaxy domination of the goa´uld. Nox were pacifist and were mostly on their own on their planet with the goa´uld not even knowing much about them, the cloaking technology helped about that too. And the Tollans were like you said arrogant and underastimated the goa´uld. for so long the goa´uld coundn´t do shit about the ion cannons of the Tollans. And Anubis came with technology that was beyond anything the goa´uld could reasonably created in that time. And of course your last sentence is absolutly right. The Goa`Uld stole their technology, on the question if or if not they created something themself i am not the one who put claims in the room. But to belief a species that rules the galaxy for tousends of years almost uncontestand and the only true contesters for galaxy domination of a system lord is another system lord because asgard, tollans and nox aren´t interessted in such things, that this species wouldn´t be able to reverse engeneering found technology or create new thins aus said found technology is a little bit questionable. Much more if you put in perspetive how quick SGC makes progress with new technologies (with help in many instances). My point stands, Goa´Uld had until the reactivation of the stargate of earth only other Goa´Uld as enemies for their reign.

In the novels, SG1 has several more adventures through time in that thing. In the Stargate Apocalypse trilogy, an alternate timeline Carter and O'Neill find that thing on Atlantis in the future and use it to go back in time and prevent SG1 from ever getting stuck 100 years in the future in the first place. Doesn't erase their timeline (think Avengers Endgame) but it creates the current path of the show.

It never made sense to me why every single jumper that they touch in stargate Atlantis works essentially as soon as they touch it it requires almost no mental power to run just like every other ancient device. None of them require an intense mental focus in general. And yet for this one hes got a work for it. Which yes it's broken and damaged so that could be the cause but it just felt weird... I mean half the s*** they get up to in Atlantis they accidentally touch something and it instantly triggers like a self destruct.

Apparently Amazon owns Stargate IP now, and look how horribly they've been botching every show they attempt. As much as I'd love to see more Stargate, I don't want to see the IP ruined with this woke madness plaguing the industry!

@@pawsomelabrastead9244 nowadays, I couldn't agree more. They'd probably recast Jack as a black woman with respect for authority and a dull sense of humour (not that Jack didn't have that dull humour to begin with.....) Either that or they'd recast Samantha as the team leader in a strong female role, not that she hasn't done that anyway in multiple episodes of SG1 and taking control of Atlantis base after Weir got replicated up the wazoo, where will the hilarity end in modern day entertainment *sighs inside*

I like to think that there was a lifesigns detector on that Jumper, and that reverse-engineering it during the rest of Season 8 is what led to the SGCs jump in handheld sensor tech into Season 9 and 10. I.e. the tiny little scanner Carter uses with the Time Field on the Quest. I'll bet Earth learned a lot from that one ship. Thing I'd be most fascinated to see in a revival is what Earth would look like today. Surely the program went public at some point in the past 20 years. Dozens of private companies taking the tech the SGC found and making all kinds of haulers, transports, sports ships, yachts. The 304 will forever be one of the sexiest and most real (soft) sci-fi ship designs, but the things all of Earth would come up with once they had access to that level of tech...

Once they had the gene therapy the Atlantis people could operate jumpers pretty easily. It seems odd that Jack had so much trouble at first since he'd proven to operate other ancient tech easily.
