Yeah, I love the customisation possibility with these! And they go well with Wargames Atlantic Death Fields and North Star Oathmark stuff too - it was fun putting together a crew of Scavorks for North Stars last painting competition.

As for the backpacks, remember, the Scavengers are out away from their base of operations for extended periods of time and so will be carrying as much of their gear as possible. The "plain" pack in the middle is suitable for crew or civilians who would only be lugging around the bare necessities ("It's heavy!") since they don't plan on being "oot and aboot" for any extended period.

That's true. My point was more that these appear to be an improvement in the level of detail in the actual (digital?) sculpts than the older models.

I love the Stargrave kits. The Frostgrave kits work will with them. I had extras left over from the crew, mercs, and soldiers box sets for Stargrave as well as some wizard, henchman, gnoll, cultist, and demons from Frostgarve and mixed them up to make some cool aliens, mutants, and human fallowers for The Doomed game and it work fantastic. North Star sets, and Wargames Atlantic sets are really great box sets for the price.

Totally agree - price is good and the parts from different sets all work well interchangeably.

An utterly fantastic kit! The quality of the sculpts are really impressive for the price, and the completely insane amount of extra bits you get on each sprue guarantees that you're gonna have plenty of variety in the models you can make from this. The long coats and hoods have made for great Mystic characters, and with bits from the Mercenaries and Troopers kits, i was able to cobble together a Sniper that looks just like a NCR Ranger from Fallout New Vegas!

The amount of spare arms and heads is crazy - I really wish Northstar would bring out sprues of JUST bodies so that we could start using up some of the spares without generating MORE spares.

Yeah, Scavengers kit seems to have the biggest guns out of all the Stargrave kits.

I use these as Chaos cultists for my Chaos 40k army. I also run the troopers as traitor guards. They are great quality and they are fairly priced. Great stuff! Nice review.

Another great set , NorthStar just advertised that another Scavengers (2) is on the way, probabilly females. The main problem is that there are too few pouches/magazines and backpacks, perhaps a plastic sprue ONLY with these accessories would be welcome. The backpacks from WGA's Cannon Fodder 1& 2 are compatible with them, and Tamiya 's Ultra Thin cement is perfect for their plastic

Yep, the scavengers can be combined very nicely with the Frostgrave Cultists, the cheapest and most unique way to built chaos cultists. But they are not as bulky as gw minis.

Good review! I’m a Napoleonic gamer or any game from 1680 to 1865. From Horse foot & guns to Sharp Practice. I’ve played Traveler to make weight (cannon fodder) in a game with regular gamers. However looking at the model figures I could probably build 2 factions but I don’t know how many figures are needed for a game. As there appears to be scenarios in the rule book so to start gaming what is the bare minimum that I will need to play all the figures in these scenarios. I can’t find this in any videos. Are there any ship to ship battles or just on world engagements?

I am overal kind of sad, that Northstar went the route of extremely chunky 28mm with everything. It literally does not fit with anything, but fireforge historicals. I would have prefered something more modernly proportionate. Height either in line with newer perrys or newer 40k/AOS or inbetween. The former would also have been cool for LOTR. But at least I can use these ones with Lead Adventure Miniatures / Ratnik. So that's good.

Fair view, but personally I really like the simplified, slightly cartoony, aesthetic to the Stargrave minis.
