Stark Varg, enduro range test pt.2: Classic enduro

Second enduro range test for the Stark Varg. Long dirt and gravel track, damp/slippery conditions. Quite alot of rocks and roots, you can really tell that the suspension is built for MX, bounced all over the place. Will rebuild the suspension for enduro later.

Thank you so much for posting this. I was seriously looking at one for the low maintenance and seeing them claim 6 hours of trail riding, but extrapolating this out to ~3 hours or ~33 miles of range to use the full battery looks like I need to crush my dreams and look at a KTM 300 or something.

I have to do some more testing but I think that 3 hours are possible on some tracks. Keeps in mind that these tests we make are strictly when the is bike moving. Usually when im out 4-5 hours about 3 of them consists of actually riding the bike.

@@enforcer-enduro really appreciate the tests and I'll follow closely. Last couple trips I had was ~20-30 ish miles per day so it'd be close. It looks awesome to be quieter and hopefully less vibration in the bars, not having an engine to stall on slow stuff seems like it'd help a lot too

KTM 300 doesnt require much maintenance compared to an older 2 stroke. I would also like a Stark Varg but range is poor and price is high to buy it, not sure if its a good investment. At least if it was road legal I could take it to work some days.

@@swedish_sadhguru3854 yeah I ended up with a gasgas ex300 TPI. Until there's an Enduro varg with longer range and/or swappable batteries I'll never buy another bike.

This is super useful information. Thank you! My (supposed) delivery date just got pushed back again, to mid-December, which, if true, I'm hoping to take the SV to a hare scramble the first weekend of January. According to your info, it might work. I was considering doing a "hot" map for the first lap, until positions get settled, the drop down to 35-40 HP, which is about where a 300 two stroke (what I normally ride) sits, but the SV should have *way* more torque so maybe I could even drop it down a bit more. My normal riding is hard enduro, super tight and technical single track so I'm thinking that I could get away with my normal map even being down to 20-30 HP since I'll still have all that torque, with the handlebar switch to flip on when I get to hill climbs, straight sections, etc. That such things can be done at all is super exiting, so I'll have to see how it works out.

Thanks for the videos. Finally someone using the bike, like I would (try). I never thought it could last for 6h. But 4-5h. More like 2-3 is disappointing for the price. But I have to say when I could ride, where u do, I wouldn’t use an electric bike. There is no one around. Here in Germany the people are very angry and don’t like other to have fun

This bike would be perfect for Germany I guess because Same in France. Riding around with the Surron suddenly makes people greet instead of argue. I am doing the same riding as before on my gas bike. People are easy to manipulate 😂

In case anybody from Stark Varg company sees this - I do 120km riding days. If you can triple the battery's energy density, that would unlock this buy from me. Even if I can charge at lunch (not guaranteed at all), I would need a (heavy?) charger on my backpack adding more weight

As I see , you need 2x battery’s capacity for full range of classic engine as 6-7 liters of gasoline. This moment is not so far. CATL announced new battery with 500 vatt*hour / kg capacity. This will be end of gasoline engine day.

Totally out for western desert/mtn type riding. A really short ride for me is 20 miles with a top speeds around 80mph and a average close to 40. A long ride is 200 miles and 10-12hrs. I have had one on preorder for 2 years. Who wants to take my place?. Supposed to deliver in Sept. I think I'll build a BRC500.

Definitely a good a choice. I think I’m going to build a BRC 500. I’ve always owned a CR500 and that is kind of the next level. Currently ride a Berg 570.

I would have thought the reason you're getting bounced around so much is the smaller tyres ? As soon as you put big enough tyres to aborb stuff you'll suck major power out of it. We do about 2000m of elevation gain in a loop. Wonder how that would affect it too.

My enduro loops are a similar distance but in the deep desert sand with average speeds in the 20s, and top speeds in the 40s to 60s. Not sure it would fare as well in my conditions.

I really depends on your weight, but the suspension was way to stiff on this track, you could feel every lite bump. Funny thing is that you can feel the potential in the suspension, on the right kind of track, it feels better then my WP Pro ever did.

You may try it with way less regen, in my experience with my surron I don't get more rage with regen, even less as it heats up the cables and battery faster, thus increasing internal resistance. Just an idea

I actually didn’t take that into consideration, but it’s a good question. I actually never had battery below 30% so don’t know how the bike would react to different situations below that, but I tried 10hp and 20hp last time I was riding. 10hp was perfect for me to help push the bike into the van and ride around in the pit but useless on the trail, 20hp was easily enough to get around on the trail, albeit really slow. Didn’t try any steep hills.

Ja jag hade velat gå ner ett steg till i fjäder, samt kommer shimsa om den till enduro. Inga problem alls mer än att den är byggd för mx, den har helt klart grym potential och vid rätt underlag så känns den bättre än min WP Pro. Körde Factory map 4: 56hp / 80 % regen.

Is the 80 HP of any use? I ask because the torque seems to be sufficiently high in the 50ish Hp range already, and you can't dial up the trackion. So more power = just more spinning tires?

I’ve seen race videos of an Alta just passing ICE racers like it’s nothing when it’s slippery and or muddy. Is there any validity to that? Do electric bikes perform more confidently than regular dirt bikes?

google it, electric can setup their motor more easy than gaz. Gaz bike have thier settings based on the timing of piston and etc.. So I guess with all the electric help and the more tuned setting, easy mud ! (im not english I tried my best)

Nu har jag inte jämfört dom sida med sida, men kört båda hojarna på samma banor och skulle säga att du har 20-30% mer till Vargens fördel. Sen kan ju det högre effektuttaget minska den skillnaden men jag ligger sällan och maxar hojen.

@@enforcer-enduro no one riding any type of gas bikes? I think any comparison to a gas powered bike, 250/300 2stroke/4stroke or whatever is available, would be indicative of whether the "similar to a ful tank on a 450" claim is accurate.
