It's funny how the average ranking of the shows is so controversial. This is basically the most objective ranking we can get, but everyone has their own opinions and wants to defend them. A good compromise leaves everyone mad, I guess.

One, they're not so far off. Two, TGWDLM, while having a ton of exceptional songs, also has a lot of short songs for the purposes of plot (for example, Cup of Poisoned Coffee). Black Friday is a lot more averaged out

It's interesting to look at how different averaging stuff up makes rankings. The reason a lot of stuff is so low is simply because musicals like Trail to Oregon, Firebringer, and TGWDLM have multiple almost objectively weak songs in them, even though they also have some of the best songs in Starkid history (Seen clearly by the highest score count). When you look at musicals like Ani, which is number 5, it has the lowest highest score of them all, but it also has the highest lowest score, which naturally, because scores are averaged, brings it higher on the list. HMB is so high due to the only poor song being Robin Sucks. I expected Twisted to be first, but it's not surprising now that I think of songs like Orphaned at 33 and Sands of Time which, while being good songs, aren't too popular simply because they're outshined by other songs on the musical, which gives it a lower scoring.

Y’all confuse the hell out me. The lowest show has a score of 3.4 and SOMETHING has to be at the bottom, that’s how lists work. You complain no matter what the score is. You complain that the shows low now are too low but if the video was reversed then the others are too low. Lists need something at the bottom? Also this is literally one of the most fair ways to rank the shows as it’s the ratings of each of song only by people who have seen the shows, thereby removing the bias that comes from how many people have seen each show and the bias from thinking of the shows as a whole. And again: something has to be at the bottom of a list! I just don’t get why people are always so negative about all the rankings as if everything can be in the top 3 (but even then y’all would complain about number 3)

I guess this just goes to show how good Starkid's songs are. We complain if anything is last because it's all so good, but like something needs to be last lol. I feel like we should look more at the number of stars each show has versus the ranking because they all have a good amount of stars

Firebringer is amazing, I listen to it all the time! The harmonies in Climate Change are out of this world good (and Zazzalil's cute cocky attitude is fun), and Into the Night means a lot to me. There's not a bad song, and they're all so different from each other, and different from the rest of Starkid's output too.

I think what throws most people off is that we tend to pay more attention to the good songs than the less good ones. We focus on the quality and quantity of good songs in a soundtrack. If this list were to accurately rank the soundtracks from worst to best it would therefore be weighted towards higher scoring songs because that's how we as humans look at soundtracks as a whole. This is a consistency ranking instead of a ranking of how good the soundtracks are. Now, don't get me wrong, there's nothing expressly bad about a consistency ranking, but the most consistent soundtrack isn't necessarily the best as well.

I have never agreed with a ranking more!! I'm so happy! I mean, how much I enjoy a musical is based almost like 80% on the soundtrack so this is fairly close to just my ranking of the shows in general. I'd put Firebringer up a little more, but given I don't really enjoy Jeff's music, I'm so happy to see my top 5 soundtracks (Starship, Twisted, Ani, HMB, and AVPS, although I can't really decide on an order) all in the top 5!!

This is so strange because almost none of these were where i expected to them to be- probably because it's an average of all the songs in the musical. So some of the musicals have several songs that I consider to be really good but also some songs that are a little bit weaker, which brings the average down, whereas a musical with not as many standout songs but less weaker songs would have a better average score. Just interesting to me the way this panned out, and that I was consistently surprised by the placement through at least the top 9, if not all of them anyway good video and yay HMB!!! i love that show

I like the music in AVPS better than AVPM. I'm in the minority that isn't that big of a fan of Granger Danger and the only song that pops into my head other than that is Gotta Get Back to Hogwarts. TBH this ranking kind of makes sense. I don’t agree with it, but HMB being number 1 does add up when in my opinion it’s one of the most consistent soundtracks of that makes sense? I think the reason why so many people disagree with this ranking is because before, the songs were ranked by comparing them to the other songs in one particular show, but now they are all thrown together. Maybe you gave a song from MAMD four stars as well as a song from HMB, even though you actually liked one of the songs way more, but four stars seemed appropriate for both comparing them to other songs in the show. So now some shows get a lower average rating because there are some great songs, and the other songs got a lower ranking because of that, while another show gets about the same rating with all songs being just okay songs. I hope this makes sense. I feel like I failed at saying what I wanted to say, English isn't my first language.
