It also directly contradicts later evidence. We see people get infected and it takes minutes for them to start showing symptoms and hours for them to be fully turned. If the infection actually moved this fast they'd be turned almost instantaneously and the transformation would likely be violent and horrific given how quickly cells would be shifting. Still love this series but I do wonder if this was an oversight and maybe it was intended to be seconds instead of milliseconds. That would still be insanely fast for an infection but not faster than you can snap your fingers.

Something that is almost always overlooked in alien horror is the fact that these organisms aren't necessarily carbon based. Imagine a lofe form based off of silicon, or something else toxic. This would disrupt and deform human cells gruesomly. Even if an alien was harmelss, their viruses most defenitly would not be.

the reason for that is that complex life requires an absolutely massive number of different chemical reactions to function properly. Silicon can do some of those reactions, which is why its often brought up as an alternative, but carbon is the only element versatile to be the basis for all of the reactions required.

I’m definitely getting some strong Thing/Mind Flayer vibes here. The contagion not only dissolves the infected, but assimilates them. Explains the cow from Starfield and the tentacles in the investigator’s helmet from HOME.

Calling it now, the big reveal of this whole series is that the Angelica has taken over the world and all the research into it is being done by assimilated humans altered by its psychic power. The final reveal would be something along the lines of “traffic camera” or “morning news” revealing the whole world looks like Starfield but everything being treated as normal.

100 milliseconds is equivalent to a tenth of a second, so 400 milliseconds would be a bit shy of a half second. So yeah, Starkill seems to be able to mutate things it infects rather quickly, which is pretty scary
