Javier Baez will be likely be remembered for his Cubs high or his Tigers low, but sandwiched between those is an unbelievably brief but eventful stint as a New York Met...

A motivated Baez is a good MLB player. 2021 was a perfect storm for Javy. Playing alongside his best friend and playing for a contract at the end of the season catapulted him into a difference maker not only with the glove but with the bat.

As much as we complained about Citi Field dimensions, they are not Comerica Park, and I believe the fact that Citi Field had better dimensions for hitting than Comerica Park is why Baez did better especially in the power department, add that with being in a contract year, and playing with a friend is a recipe for success, honestly if Baez remained with the Mets he’d most likely be a .240-.260 hitter with 25-30 HR power, he’d revert to his high strike out self, but his power wouldn’t be as stunted.

As a sports bettor the 2021 Mets costed me so much money. I swear it felt like if I put them on a parlay or just a straight bet they would either lose outright or they wouldn't cover. Especially in the 2nd half of 2021. Them and the Cincinnati Reds fucked me over big time that season.

As a Tigers fan, I'd disagree that you have no idea what you're getting with Baez... we know exactly what we're getting: NOTHING (except defense, I can't take that away from him). I knew this was a brutal deal the moment it was signed, but I was also beating the drum to sign Correa so what do I know?!

@@WildWusto yeah it hasn't been great, but defensive metrics are super noisy in small samples and a single month is pretty small. he may well be aging and not even the defensive piece in addition to his rough bat this year, I don't doubt that... just saying it's too early to tell

God the cubs sold so desperately in 21. Kris Bryant hit 43 hrs, Rizzo hit 33, Schwarber hit 32, Javier hit 31. They traded their key pieces to ever winning a World Series again for a while.

I know Javi since his early day's playing winter ball in San Juan for the Santurce Crabers, i worked for the Municipal of San Juan, under Major Yulin. I always told him, papi, you need to cut down on that high kick because you are really late and unbalanced with your swings and striking out too much. He tried but it was natural for him and difficult to adjust.

Its obvious he was in New York close to a lot of Puertorricans, he also was besides his friend which made him better. As Puertorrican that affect us. Im sure he would be better if he'd stayed. But we'll not be able to see that. Baez, Lindor and Correa would've been awesome they complement each other like no one else.

He's a perfect guy for someone like the Yankees to pick up or someone who is in a dogfight of a pennant chase. I call it Von Miller syndrome as a Broncos fan. Having Baez was a lot of fun. His flair for the dramatic. His style and swag. Many parts of his personality. The energy he was bringing to the games because New York's Puerto Rican community started showing up huge for Lindor and him Obviously he never should have done the thumbs down, but that was a pretty pathetic reaction by New Yorkers, to be honest The amount of athletes we've booed mercilessly. The amount of sh*t we talk to each other, tell each other f*ck you... And a player gives some thumbs down and there's crying about it to this day...

He's not the guy I wanted my Tigers to sign, though I'm a bit of an outlier for wanting Seager when everyone wanted Correa. Javy at this point is the final poison pill in the disastrous tenure of Al Avila. Both men may as well be Satan in Detroit. Especially after watching this video I hope for both parties sake they can find a way to move on from each other, get his career back on track elsewhere and get someone in Detroit who can help the struggling offense.
