What about me? What about Maylis? George ol boy really likes him some unrequited love. Maylis seemed to love Hal, or did at one time, but couldn't love what he became after the incident that left his arm destroyed and left him chilled. Perhaps that is why she seemed so hostile to Starlady. In the end, Hal did what Maylis needed him to do to redeem himself in her eyes but he does it for Starlady, not for her. I also like the idea someone brought up that Golden Boy might influence people psychicly. Does Starlady love him straight, or is it a manipulation? Does he have any love for Starlady? In the end is anyone in a mutual loving relationship or is everyone unrequited? The only winner is Stumblecat maybe.

Great job Preston! Once again you have made another excellent video. I agree with your assertions about Golden Boy. Reminds me of a plot in Babylon 5 - in which an empath is discovered carrying out missions for the Psy-Core. It certainly makes sense that Golden Boy could be one. My thoughts on the similarities between Starlady and ASOIAF were: * Hairy Hal && Jaime Lannister - both being maimed warriors with the reputation of a Hero that suffer some sort of injury to their fighting arm that results in them having a change of personality. * Stumblecat && Littlefinger - both rejected from the upper rungs of society, only to end up climbing the ladder by manipulating others into doing the work for them. * No-Knife && Lightbringer - both mystical magical swords with super powers abnormal to the culture they are in. Interesting to note that in the end it all came down to 5 players walking into the ring with only 3 emerging victorious. GRRM certainly has a thing about 5's becoming 3's. The war of the 5 Kings becomes the war of the 3 Queens. ?The enduring 5 becoming the 3 Heads of the Dragon?

Yes, but with the experience that she's gained out on the street, she should have realised that Stumblecat is most probably leading her into a trap. She's clearly inexperienced with a no knife and could easily be disarmed by the blackskulls. After that, Stumblecat can do whatever he wants with her, and she probably wouldn't even get to stay every night with Goldboy. How does she even know that Goldenboy wouldn't betray her as she did Hal? We never even got to know what Goldenly was thinking; he was just silent and obedient.

Thank you for the read! I'm gonna spin you straight, this story got me warm til I'm boiling. What little I know of Starlady, I don't like. She's vapid. What happened to her was awful, but her personality still sucks. The language and subculture here are cool, had to listen twice before I hummed to it. There is a hero here, and it's Hal. His one big mistake was falling for the wrong girl. He's Littlefinger and Jainey is a combination of Sansa and Arya. Hal helps Starlady against his better judgement, and gets screwed over for it. He's an opportunist, plain and simple. At least he got over being chilled. I feel bad for Golden Boy most of all. He seems to have zero substance. "I love him." Really? really?! How does he take his coffee? What's his favorite color? How many times a day can you make him laugh? Love is an empty concept here, both with her and Hal. Hal doesn't know Starlady any better than she knows Golden Boy. I still like Hal better, he never misrepresented himself and spun her straight right from the start. What does he get for his trouble? "What about you?"... screw you Jainey.

This is definitely the worst GRRM/1,000 Worlds short story. The story is pointless. The language is strange and really forced. The characters are the best part. They're weird but almost normal, or real-ish. It's like not everybody is a hero, not everybody is a devious villain.

My first ever downvote for you Preston. It bothers me that you would take "financial ownership" of Martin's intellectual property here. Meaning, that you take his work and read it, so that viewers don't buy his book and he gets nothing from it, but you do. I get that he's a multi-millionaire, but it's the principle. I really enjoy and respect your analysis - but note it is an add-on to Martin's work that would generally serve to enhance Martin's reward for his imagination and work. The other Starlady video you did is fine this way. My 2 cents.
