How much would each bulb capacitor and ballast sell for on eBay for example if you do all of the lights in a movie sound stages it would make it much lighter to carry up and re install

Now after you cut the exposure off of those other wires, don't you still have to cover off the tips of them before you put the ballast back together. See, my church has these lights in the sanctuary and I was telling my pastor how I found that there are LEDS available for them as long as you convert them at the ballast first.

maybe remove the old ballast and capacitor in the same time it takes to cut the wires making the fixture lighter and then recycle or resale the old ballast for $$$ and not to go to landfill. If you are replacing an entire warehouse with 20+ fixtures a sizable savings.

8,000 lumens won’t replace a 400w metal halide. Sorry. That’s a less efficient LED and that’s even less than a 250w metal halide. I would recommend the 23,000 lumen 150w LED high bay fixture to replace a 400w metal halide or HPS. Not only a 150w fixture is brighter than the 400w metal halide or HPS, but it focuses the light better than your LED replacement.

Why not just replace the entire fixture with led high bay unit that is cheaper and less labor ? Unless you like holding a 30# light ballast in the air that serves no purpose but to hold the building down now that they have been bypassed to save the cost of a mogle lamp base ? They must sell to the government . How many idiots does it take to screw up a light bulb ....... couldn’t resist lol but only half a funny as this video !

Allen Sandven I’m with you, it seems the led retrofit bulbs are about the same money as a new led fixture... am I missing something, changing the fixtures seems like the common sense thing to do
