one of my local stations i use this station to get to and from college, i normally get a choice of desiro or 455 to go home on, lovely catch of the 701 being delivered! and some lovely motor sounds from the sprinters

StarlifeStudios, I recommend going to the southeastern stations when the 376s are halfway through being replaced by class 707s.

As far as I am aware, the 376s aren’t being replaced at all. The 707s will likely part replaced 465s/466s instead. I will be around when it happens 😃

@@StarlifeStudios whatever gets replaced, I'm just happy that the 707s have a new home. But il be sad if it is the 465/466 getting replaced as those are my childhood trains( but I'm only 9, so they are my normal trains really)

Hello Arnold! The sprinters honestly made this journey worth it, I’m so happy that they’re still running! I think the 701 was timed to be in front of the local terminator (the 458) but end up stuck behind it.

Hi Scooby Boy! I have recently been to Sevenoaks (Video on my channel) and will also be uploading some more videos in that area soon. Orpington has been subject to a lot of train service alterations recently due to the Hither Green Resignalling. I hope to go back to Kent soon, so I'll put Orpington and St Mary Cray on my list to visit.

Why do the 455's sound both old and new at the same time? They have those old 80's GEC motors, but have a more modern Hitachi-like whine to them. I swear they didn't use to sound like that.

Hello Still_Guns, Under SouthWest Trains, all the 455s under went an AC Traction Upgrade which changed various motor parts. I believe the new components were actually designed to be direct replacements. Since the parts didn’t replace the gearing, the original sounds are still present (rather like a 319 can still have its motor sounds on diesel power). The 456s on this route are not upgraded and there are a few cases in this video where you can hear the difference. Great question!

Nice video! How on earth did SWR managed to get a 12 car 450 running to Weymouth from Waterloo? I would recommend visiting Woking, there would be more trains to spot if it wasn't for the pandemic.

It looks like due to the reduction in timetabled services, they are surplus to requirements (they normally work peak time services). I think it’s unlikely they’ll run now until at least December.

Hi a b, in this video the 456 was on a fast Woking service but I believe that they can appear on any metro service with a 455. There are 24 units so you have a pretty good chance of seeing one if you go to Wimbledon or Clapham!

Nice one Lunatic! I had a feeling you’d say that because of where you typically video. The linespeed is 90 (which isn’t far off the top mainline speed of 100) but it does seem slow compared to other mainlines. The track also seems to look a bit bouncy!
