Here in Oregon we have a great time in the cherry orchards and blueberry patches. Many times we can shoot a couple of cases of 28ga. In a few hours. In the winter the starlings come into the dairies in waves. Great wing shooting practice.

Good (and helpful to farmers) shooting Richard., I'm sure they have appreciated your 'work' . Starlings, wherever they are in the world, have a bad reputation of destroying the song bird's nests and leaving nasty stuff wherever they live, it seems. This episode of Air Heads is most enjoyable.

Glossy starling is not a pest as far as I know. There are a few other starlings that definitely are though, they do cause problems and health risks.

well that is 4 now all you need to do is shoot faster! i air rifle starlings too, i do it to protect my swift nest boxes.. dont need that fancy crap a .177 a big azz scope . cheap azz 1000fps .177 the boxes are 100 yards from the main house. a .177 feels as bad in a cheap rifle as an expensive rifle.

I have to content myself with the occasional shot in my backyard. I put up a little blind, and wait for them to pillage the bird feeder. I absolutely hate them for the terror that have been to our native birds in Oregon. I don't know anyone who cares a whit for these birds.

Yes, ours are called eourpean starlings, invasive species, appetlanty someone brought 60 from eourp and released them in new York park and now they repopulated to millions, there are some by my house 3,000 miles away from where they were originally relased

Starlings are very bad bird there kill other birds and song birds in their nest open season on them but hard to shoot if they see something moves they gone..

Great- I hate starlings. They cause so much damage around my home and fruit but in Ireland we cant touch them. They also shit everywhere and all over my fruit trees and their crap has salmonella in it which is dangerous for my kids who play nearby.

Hunting invasive species is the only way to cope with the problems that they pose, that`s the gist of it and feel free to google it. "is it so fun to shoot a bird?" Many factors needs combining to answer this question. If you don`t have fun doing something on your spare time, then why do it? Let`s say playing the guitar or listening to music wasnt fun, why would we do it anyway? It has been said that the act of hunting is in most peoples instincts, so if you have the needed stomach/instinct for it (call it whatever you want), as well as the skill (which Richard certainly does).. Firstly the natural instinct is acted upon, AND it`s doing good for farmers, combine those two then yes, a feeling of having fun might be the best description! "It seems to give you a great pleasure" To question your question: Who in the hell takes pleasure making animals suffer, dying, slowly, in great pain?? 1) Such people has no place in civilized hunting communities. 2) Such behavioral patterns is one of the main reasons only people of sane mind can acquire weapons in the first place! Ergo to answer your question: Of course it gives a respectful and sane hunter great pleasure and satisfaction in dispatching prey in the quickest manner possible! Edit: I got curious and checked your profile, I see you`ve recently liked a Night Vision Rat Hunting video. So to put it this way: In South Africa these Starlings, Sparrows, Pigeons etc are more or less the rats of the sky, they spread lice, their feces spread disease etc (what Richard already said in the video). So surely you can relate? :) Does this alleviate your concerns? :)
