I just received my email indicating that I will be receiving my Starlink system within two weeks (after 15 months of being in the queue). I have been watching your KZbin channel since you started posting information (for me beginning in December 2021) on setting up your StarLink system. Your postings have prepared me with essential information to plan my network setup, order the necessary accessories, and tune it to run efficiently. I can’t wait to put all of this new knowledge to use and looking forward to having an efficient internet capability. I will continue to view your channel to learn how to tune better, adjust, and use the system once I get it up and running. Keep up the great work you provide to the current and future StarLink subscribers.

48 hours into my starlink experience in middle TN. It's leagues ahead of the hotspot provider we had. But it's certainly still satellite. It's been rain/sleet and cloudy most of the 48 hours. But we did have a great showing in the bit of clear sky we saw this afternoon. Still haven't sat down and looked deeper at this site. But have noticed on the speed test app the server frequently shifts all over the place not sure what that means. Thanks for continued content It's very helpful.

We're in the Bahamas and we got Starlink Roam/Regional from Florida, before Elon got a licence here in The Bahamas. We currently pay $150/m and from what I heard, the residential package is now $80/m here in the Bahamas. My question is, If I do the whole "transfer of ownership" process to get my account over to Bahamas, will my IP address still be US based? i.e. Will it still use the Atlanta (or Miami) POP as it is doing now? on the SX site, it doesn't look like there are any base stations or POPs in the Bahamas. We prefer the US viewing, even with the ridiculous amount of Ads. FYI: On our local broadband cell service here in The Bahamas, we don't have ads. But the speed sucks on our small island Great Guana Cay.

This is an excellent explanation of how Starlink users connect to the Internet. Another interesting question is that if Alice and Bob are both Starlink users, is any pop used for their connection? I guess only ground stations and satellites play roles in this type of connection.(Alice -> satellite -> station -> satellite -> station ... satellite-> Bob) However, I don't find more information on the web.

I'm loving this new sx site. I can see all the satellites I'm linked up to at any given second, as well as the eight ground stations I'm switched through as the satellites orbit. One thing I'm noticing is that the direction dishy is aimed at in the sky is not the entire coverage area as it appears dishy is able to receive/send signals from the main face of unit as well as the sides and the back. While my green circle area of coverage goes all the way down to the Kentucky/Tennessee state line, several times I've noticed I'm getting connections to the Chattanooga TN, and Atlanta GA ground stations although they are outside of my green circle which is strange as my dishy is aimed north/northwest and my PoP is Chicago. At any given moment, I am linked with 4-7 satellites which communicates with up to 10 different ground stations. I'm Lovin' It!!!

I so wish I had seen this video BEFORE purchasing Starlink. My IP address is showing that I reside in Chicago, IL 60602 but I am really located in the tip of the mitt in northeastern Michigan. This has caused some real issues for me because there are a few sites that I can no longer utilize because one MUST reside in the state of Michigan in order to facilitate any transactions. I just wonder if any of the geniuses at Starlink ever considered this.

Because of this PoP issue, mine is in Atlanta, KZbin TV dropped me. I loved KZbin TV. I had local network channels. Now I don't. I got a notice this past spring that I needed update my location. I contacted Google support and they responded back that they were working on the problem. A week ago They cut me off. They advised me to drop Starlink for cable or fiber! There's none of that out here. Its very aggravating. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had this issue.

My Starlink was the best thing ever for about 3 weeks. I had been using another satellite service that was so expensive and had a very high ping and very slow download. 2 to 6 mbps at it's fastest. But then my Starlink stopped working. I contacted Support, was sent a bot response and nothing for a week. Nothing, Nada. I'm devastated. I saw on Reddit where people have had support respond back in just a few hours to 2 days at the most. I haven't heard a thing in a week.

Hi. I’m based in Australia and I tried Starlink and found the performance quite poor. My POP was in California 1000’s kms away and my latency varied between 40 and 110ms. Totally unsuitable for voice or video comms. So I returned the kit. The support seemed to be staffed by unhappy souls who didn’t fully read my messages and sometimes totally ignored my messages. It’s a pity because I was hoping to move to Starlink and use it for many years… Musk really needs to improve the CX in my opinion. If SpaceX wants my feedback I’d be willing to help. I’m just a phone call away.
@jcristina2 жыл бұрын
CX is an issue right now. I’m hoping this will get ironed out sooner than later. I’m understanding we will see double the number of satellites by years end. If that is the. See you country will have better access certainly.
@mglew2 жыл бұрын
@@jcristina I’m more concerned with the support section and their ability to sort out these problems. I note the complete lack of a telephone or real time chat support channel, and the likelihood that because Starlink is US based there is a lack of training/knowledge in supporting and provisioning international customers.

The POP’s that are selected by Starlink is a rather interesting algorithm. The satellite map appears to be using similar software algorithm that cell phone use. IE the closest satellite to you and the closest ground station to that satellite. I am not sure that is what Starlink is actually doing. And the POP that is chosen could be the closest to that ground station, the one that provides the least number of hops, or some other algorithm for you. Now that the gen 1.5 satellites are becoming operational, I suspect the POP could be anywhere that would provide the best latency/performance. I don’t know how Starlink is routing data, but it looks very complex to me because of the different revision satellites in operation. I believe that the Starlink Coverage Tracker is using the correct satellite position and POP data, but I am not sure they are using the correct real time satellite for your data other than the one that is nearest to you. However, it does provide an interesting observation. This entire thing is mind blowing.

Morning (here anyway) have you attempted to ask anything about obstructions, I for one have a tree that my park says they are going to remove (invasive species) however when? is a better question , it obstructs so slightly in the north very close to the horizon that you almost can't see the red on the Starlink graphic. Have you asked them if they can allocate to a different latitude? i.e.. my obstruction is very low on the horizon however it causes an obstruction every 3-4 minutes. if dishy was aimed more vertical (I'm located very close to the 45 parallel about 50 miles north 45.5 degrees) if SpaceX Starlink would allocate me to a line more close to that latitude I would not have any obstructions, I have asked and WOW are the answers all over the place. One Starlink tech thought I was asking for the constellation to be moved to change my coverage. NO, I just would like the allocated satellites at a latitude closer to the 45th parallel I would have much better coverage. I know they are there, and with the increase in fee associated with StarLink service I don't really think that is asking too much. I'm not asking for a closer ground station (even though there is one about 30 miles away Kalama, WA.) just a non-obstructed view via electronic placement of ground to space etc. more vertical line of sight. What do you think? and maybe you have discussed this and just not put it in your videos as I cannot be the only one. Great videos by the way. THANKS for that.
@jcristina2 жыл бұрын
I will discuss the tree tomorrow. Maybe in a #short as for you issue with Starlink and moving you which of course sounds 100% plausible. I’ve notice that their Tech Support responses uses to be more personal. Many today are cut and paste boilerplate in nature. Sadly.

It’s possible but the occasional 5 second long outages are very annoying. It’s impossible to game if you have any slight obstructions what so ever.

Solid but it would depend on weather of course. I did a ping test for 10+ hours with over 7000 packets sent with 7 loss. That a 0% down time. With a 24 minimum, 310 maximum, and 38 average ping for that time frame. Not too bad for satellite internet. It’s good enough for casual FPS play like CoD or Fortnite, CS:GO etc. but your not going to win any competitions with fiber that is providing a 0-10 pings. 3X faster.
