When ordering without a router, is there a separate proprietary power cable and then a separate ethernet? Was hoping for a more simple one-ethernet POE+ connection. Also not interested in the Starlink router.

It comes with a cable that goes from the power supply to RJ45 so that you can plug in a 3rd party router or switch. Starlink doesn’t supply POE from this cable.

@@warnerlNo, the dish is the modem, but doesn’t perform any routing or WiFi functions. If ordering the High Performance, you need to provide a router or your own networking equipment.

There are 3 main generations. The Gen 1 dish was circular. The 2nd generation includes the Flat High Performance in this video, as well as the regular High Performance and Standard Actuated models. The mast and proprietary cables give this generation away. As well as the router, which stands tall with a glass front. Gen 3 is the newest version. It doesn't have a mast or motors. The kickstand mount is the defining feature of the design. The router is also different, a longer rectangular shape with no glass. Also Ethernet ports on the back.

Depends on your location and service plan, not really the equipment. The Flat High Performance isn't any faster than the Standard. It has a higher FOV, is in-motion approved, and has a beefier power supply to handle weather better.

@@StarlinkHardware I have terminals in locations in the world with very few users competing for bandwidth, I routinely see throughput in the high 300Mbps and have seen over 400Mbps a couple of times.
