Great video. I was wondering if you could post a pic of the app thumbnail that you showed the obstructions screen? The one I’ve been trying with still uses the little dots and gives no specific usable info. The 3D one you showed looks great. Thanks again for taking the time to help out us new customers. Ours is finally on the way! 😃👍🏼

Hey folks... if you could only get the dish over the tree line. We got our StarLink in Sep this year.......I had to only go up about 20' to clear the trees in our north view. So we were lucky. With no obstructions, the service has been flawless. Only lost service a couple times, due to system maintenance. We are located about 100 km north west of Montreal Canada, and with a clear view of the north, the system works perfectly in heavy rain and snow storms!!!! We have no cell or reasonable internet options. This was a game changer for us. Good luck with getting over the trees. StarLink is amzing!!

Do think starlink could work with remote desktop now?
@mountaintopmakers

potentially, if you have a large clearing with no obstructions it shouldn't be an issue, but if there are any obstructions (trees in the way, poles, other houses) and it drops for a few seconds, remote desktop will have to reconnect

@@mountaintopmakers Thank you, RD is very sensitive to drop in quality or latency, I have enough clearance to have zero obstructions in my back yard space at my country home...I work upwards of 8hrs per day 6 days a wk....so I needs to be dependable to say the least lol

Excellent review - confronts with practical solutions the major downside of Starlink for so many folks. However, it has to be said that Starlink is one of the most important initiatives in modern society. My bet this that there will in very short order be an industry created around physical and technological enhancement of Starlink reception. And, you’re right, We’re at about 1900 satellites now and they plan, I believe, around 19,000! Great job, folks; appreciate the time and effort. Best regards, Bill

There is a better solution which I've imparted at my location and at my neighbor's which is to mount the starlink on 20-ft pole sections in my case three sections and it is drawn into place using a slider which is mounted to the pole this allows me to access the starlink and also to easily service the dish should there be any problem this is done with 2-in steel pipe and a two and a half inch slider

We just installed ours about one week ago. It is far superior to our previous provider, up to 10x + faster on both up and download speeds! Only 2x the monthly cost! very few outages.

Question, I have viasat internet where I live , I usually don’t have trouble with zoom calls but I had the same problems with the desktop work from home jobs. The viasat internet has great download speed but only 3 mbps upload and ridiculously high ping ( in the 700’s) could you post what your upload and download plus ping with your starlink ? I am hopeful my sat internet might be acceptable for a WFH job that’s all zoom after watching this video.

I also live in the woods ( on top of a mountain but still tons of trees obstructing according to the Starlink app to test for a proper place to mount the dish. Please do a speed test with your Starlink including the ping , it would be very helpful .

I have a question for you. How do you find work from home jobs? Every time I try to Google for them I end up in these weird websites that want you to sign up for a million things. How do you actually find a work from home job?

About the 4G LTE Boosters, they can be a bit tricky to work with...you always need to know exactly what is the band your provider is using for 4G LTE in your area and instal a booster and directional antennas for that specific frequency...otherwise they don't improve any connection and if it is the wrong band booster it even make it worst.... That might be your initial problem...because is the most tricky part of the installation and must be done by someone that knows what he is doing. I'm using one on my 4G LTE connection and it works really fine, before the booster I had 2-3Mb/s speeds and after the booster and the external 2 polarity antenna I got between 10 and 20Mb/s... with a 20ms latency...so...it's quite usable. I'm telling you this because it's my line of work...and is not a one fits all solution for every place.

Yes I know! Crazy but its true, some people reach out to them and they don't get back for weeks at a time. our neighbor had that exact experience, but we didn't. for us it was fast and efficient, maybe they are fixing that part of their biz

@@mountaintopmakers Starlink are doing their best. Repairing dishes with faults and shipping them out fast is humanly possible. Sourcing electronic parts for new dishes is a different story, because of the world wide semiconductor crisis.

if its just a few trees why not just cut them down

Mostly, the trees that are there are slow growing and diverse hardwoods, we cut down the soft (white pine) and its more than enough for our purposes
