My brother-in-law (now deceased) worked at Binion's Horseshoe back in the 80's, he was the guy who fixed the slot machines. When they filmed the scene in the casino where Jeff Bridges pulls the handle and wins the jackpot, it was my brother-in-law who set the machine up to win with one pull.

$18 is kind of a lot for just a hole in the ground. There's a crater place in Arizona whose name I don't remember. But we paid money to get in but there's a gift shop and a movie you can watch in their little theater. It's very professional and you get get up close to the crater almost to the edge. It's not some back door crap owned by "the hills have eyes" kind of family. Oh, the place is in Meteor Crater, Arizona!
@DanBellFilmIt8 жыл бұрын
+Luis Granada same place. Lol.

Thanks for risking getting arrested for trespassing at the Starman Creator. Grinch Family man owner should have let you film after closing time. It would have been good publicity for Grinch man's the roadside attraction.

Great video!! Have been to the Meteor Crater a few times. Awesome place. Also, the $18.00 does get you into the museum complex - if it is still there. Last time I visited was in 1999. Back then, was not as expensive to get in. Brought back memories.

I loved watching STARMAN WITH JEFF BRIDGES. I was 20 years old and that film brought me to tears in more ways than one...I thought how he gave her a child was so sweet ; as he took the form of her dead husband. It was really poignant. The men kissing thing put me in mind how Russians and other political leaders would greet with a kiss. It wasn't a romantic type of kiss, but he was mimicking the woman. I didn't find men as sex things like my friends. I wouldn't look at a man as a hunk etc. Jeff Bridges really was the only film star that really got me envying the woman in the film. I really thought he was a good looking actor. His whole family were all brilliant actors. Thanks for the reminiscences of 1984 STARMAN.

They Live was great... But, let's go easy on the "best film", okay.... Prince of Darkness, and ultra creepy film that will fuel your nightmares for the rest of your life.... Escape from New York, a groundbreaking film at the time.... The Thing, which is quite brilliant, again, Kurt Russell, magnificent working with Mr Carpenter..... Best film, we could meet up, and discuss for days......
@pantherseyes8 жыл бұрын
hell yeah!!!! Prince of Darkness,, the best ever!!! as my first landlords son said, he loved the way, science and the church pulled together, when normally they are so seperated. You have great taste Patrick.

I seen them do the filming of Starman scenes in Winslow Az one night when I was working in the train dispatchers office there. It is the part when he jumps on the boxcar during a rainstorm. Winslow being very dry with little rain so they put up large water sprayers to do the scene. Santa Fe Railway provided the train and crew to pull the cars by the filming area. They were wanting to make a second film of this shot however after considering the price for making it again changed their mind so they simply used the first shoot of that scene. Thanks for sharing your videos.

I should say I flew into Flagstaff and drove to Winslow to work on the Hopi reservations for a several years. The crater itself is nice-about 5 paved miles from that restaurant. But I was always sad that one tourist spot was gone.

If this is the meteor crater in AZ, the thing in the middle is a sign that shows what someone 6 ft tall would look like at the bottom of the crater. There's also a previous dig shaft in the center.

It seems to be a bit of mystery as to which one of these octagon shaped buildings was actually used in Starman. There is another building just down the road off 40 that is now a Mobil Gas Station (RV Park) that has a plaque stating it was used in the movie. The only thing that makes me think the gas station one wasn't the one used is all the large trees surrounding. There are virtually no trees around the Meteor City Trading Post.
