It looks nice but I feel like it would've looked nicer had you built up all the colors on your sponge at once instead of gone back and dipped it in several times. It would've given it a nicer ombré effect. But still, it looks nice. :)

These nails are absolutely beautiful! It caught my eye when it randomly came up on my videos. I'm not much of a nail-person, but it was fascinating to watch! Just as a note, a gradient is one color fading into a different color, not just dark into light or visa versa.

I love it so much ! Blue is my favorite color too so this is right up my alley. I haven't tried this technique yet as I only just managed to let my nails grow to the tips of my fingers after 30 years of really bad nail biting, but I am enjoying being able to put pretty colours on them.

This is by far the best gradiant tutorial I've seen. It also has a bit of galaxy nail art. Your voice is so beautiful--it really sells it. I am going to try this--I only have done 2 gradiants so far and they came out OK but not great. This looks like it would work. Many thanks.

WOW. Great video. I loved the tip about using the sponge. Other vids I have seen about how to do gradient nail just tell you to paint the color on with the brush. If you paint on all the colors it looks very thick and lumpy.

Julia, have you seen that product called Liquid Palisade? You put it on around the outside of your nails to protect them from stray polish - it's quicker and easier than tape! It just peels off after you're done painting the nails and NO MESS! I'm so excited that I'm writing all over the place about this product!

The tape on your cuticles was a nice tip, I hate cleaning up my cuticles after painting my nails. Especially when I use darker colors. It takes forever!

You can also take this one step further, if you paint stripes onto your sponge in different colours right next to each other, quickly sponge onto the nail, you can get a rainbow effect, its really cool. X

VERY VERY pretty THANKS a Bunch!.. plan on doing this for the weekend. I usually get acrylics done I hate how they paint or design nails so I redo them when I get home lol.. I'm learning how to do my own nails the way I like em. I plan on using cream, tangerine orange, and a yellow orange *fingers crossed* and have found pinkish,orange nail glitter polish for the tips of the nails.

I did this, but a little differently. I had my base coat, of course. First I took a bright blue, (Blue Me Away, Sally Hansen) and I painted a dot on the tip of my finger. Then, I used a sponge to spread it out about three quarters of the way around my nail. I made sure never to put it fully to the cuticle, and the edge was uneven. I repeated the same steps with an NYC purple, and then a black leaving the edge higher up each time. Next, I just added glitter, and a clear coat!
