I so remember this filming. Was on the set for STARS....it is great to see these dancers now...as they have all retired by now. Millie...50...unbelievable...and Helgi there as well..

Wow! So many dancers the victims of poor camera work! Really bad! But what a thrill to see Hayden at 50 no less, on those concrete floors. What amazing feat by everyone. Helgi is brilliant. I got to where I didn't trust anyone to videotape my performances except for my husband, as I give him detailed instructions-- he got so good at it, that he now actually critiques poorly done videos of dance!

Melissa Hayden: Brava! Carol Sumner: Brava! Marnee Morris: Brava! Helgi Tomasson: Bravo! I've never seen a dancer do three consecutive double tours en l'air. Deni Lamont: Bravissimo! NYCB: Many thanks. You guys and dolls are the best. Mr. Balanchine: The older I get and the more I watch your choreographic offerings, the more I appreciate your vision and contribution. Rest In Power

i had forgotten how truly awful these berlin films were. it's a way to see some of the dancers who first introduced me to balanchine

Do they do this differently now? I feel like in the first campaign the lead dancer catches a baton from the wings and maybe there is a bugle involved as well? I just saw it not long ago at Lincoln Center.....

Yes you're correct. Several things were changed just for this Berlin film.
