I made this as a block in my paper pieced quilt project. Great pattern.

Used dryer sheets are great to use as stabilizers. You could also fold your backing as binding toward the front then free motion all of it incorporating the binding, this would make the entire "rug" sit flat (no ridges to tip a cup) you could also make wavy edges. The ideas are endless with this wonderful design!!

I've heard many people say the dryer sheets work really well......I haven't tried it yet but I'm going to :) I like your idea of incorporating the binding in with the quilting.....that is fantastic...you are so right, the possibilities are endless!! I appreciate watching along and you're useful information!!!

What a cute pattern! As with everything in quilting there are a million ways of doing things. I was taught to place the fabric on the back of the pattern map and sew on the lines of the pattern. I think I’ll try your way and see how I do (sometimes old habits are hard to break for me Lol!) By the way I have to say I love your choice in music! Have a wonderful week

my very first paper piecing project I also started on the back side sewing through the paper :) Some time ago I came across this method and I loved it!! No more tearing the paper off the back and I only needed one pattern....I was hooked hahaaa. Let me know what you think after you try it out. My music taste is all over the place......I can be very eclectic that way...I reckon it depends on my mood for the day. Thank you so much for watching!!

Nice video! You are an excellent teacher. Could you just use the batting as the stabilizer for the stars since it won't show anyway?
@TheQuiltmakerHomestead6 жыл бұрын
hmmm.....well I reckon you could try :) Test it out on some scraps before applying it to the project and see how it turns out, thanks for watching and for the feedback!!

Lisa, on the stars did you use white fabric? I noticed you used off white for the strips. HELP!
@TheQuiltmakerHomestead6 жыл бұрын
JONI FOOTE the stars were a different fabric than the stripes on this particular one, however they too were an off white color...just a TAD bit lighter :)

Can this method be applied to all paper piecing or is it just for straight line piecing? Thank you again for the time that you put in on your videos. They are well done. However, I prefer you talking instead of the music. Thanks.

Hi Barbara, I appreciate the feedback! I do this method for all of my paper piece work and it works out nicely, give it a try and see if you like it :)
