The saddest part about all of this is that this could’ve been avoided if it weren’t for Radahn’s one blemish on an otherwise pure hearted character; his aversion to change. He adorns himself in the imagery of the Golden Order’s glory days, he became the greatest gravity sorcerer to ever live so he would never part from his beloved horse, and he arrested fate itself to uphold the status quo. I truly think that the Shattering would’ve ended much differently had he just been able to let go. If he had released the stars when fighting Malenia, I don’t think she would’ve stood a chance, even in her Goddess of Rot form

Nah I fully believe based on Freyja's dialogue that they made a vow and part of it was the Radahn needed to die and be reborn, so he said "Cool, I want to fight Malenia and die with honor." The Radahn Festival is just a continuation of that wish Radahn had. If a vow hadn't been there, why would Freyja have sided with Miquella and Leda at the end when she was one of Radahn's inner circle? She knew the man, the vow is what he'd want. It says something that of the charmed followers of Miquella, only two turn on him. Ansbach literally only out of duty to Mohg, having full respect for Radahn in their battle and reverence and fear of miquella. And Thiollier, who follows St. Trina, who represents not only Miquella's love, but his self love, his desire for self preservation. Do I think Miquella's age of compassion would have been a pure good? Debateable. He'd bring peace, I honestly wish that was made into a new ending for the game, where you can choose to replace Radahn as his consort. I fully believe Miquella's wish was to be a sacrificial lamb. To become a caged deity and bring peace to the world, for the sake of every living being.

@@Frostman411 why would radahn ever honour the vow in the first place? miquella's goal was to end all wars entirely. radahn clearly had no interest in becoming the lord of this age, as evident by miquella sending malenia to caelid to fight radahn and his army. radahn most likely honoured the vow because of miquella's charm. as we know, the fate of all carians are held by the stars, and radahns fate is intertwined with miquellas. this is probably the reason he was holding the stars back, even in his scarlet rotted mindless form.

The end also ends in a soft and reverent manor like the player is paying respects to Radahn after Ethel defeat him.

51 tries. 51 tries it took me to beat him without summons. probably the best boss in gaming history, he taught me so much without summons, how to properly use stam, when to jump, when to punish & when to dodge, he definitely is the pinnacle boss of setting the player up for late game. ashamed he isn't required to progress through the story, radahn should've been a boss you had to beat, its sad knowing some people in their playthrough skipped him.

Malenia really did Radahn dirty like bro fought her with honor just for her to give him scarlet rot and turn him into a mindless husk of what he used to be and now his soldiers have solemly put their general to rest, the general who could've easily killed Malenia if he wanted to but he didn't
