When Starship was having its resurgence in the 80s, I was always blown away with Mickey’s voice and couldn’t understand why he wasn’t talked about with the same awe as the big voices of the era. Legend.

Sorry but Marty’s voice had a certain quality especially when Kantner and Cassidy harmonized not to mention how much Grace contributed. Had a hard time hearing “Jane Jane Jane” for a while. Strangely enough I loved Nuclear Furniture only to spend big bucks to sit close to Paul K who decided not to tour which kinda caused me to lose interest. A few years later The KBC Band (Kantner, Balin,Cassidy) did an excellent album and song called “America “ That was pretty much the end for me. Though I really liked them once upon a time

Steph had better tone and harmonies Mickey firing her for not being vaccinated is ridiculous. 15 years she was w him. He left her hanging for a month to try this new girl out who was a friend of hers. Once he knew she was capable the ax came down. These are words right out of Steph’s mouth.

@@chromemusic4401 she seems very nice and humble and Mickey does too but man you kinda pissed me off you fired her over Covid. You can thank your silly government for the hatred you had for her, don’t have to be nasty about it Mickey. Maybe she couldn’t get it or I didn’t get one so what it seemed fishy. With someone for 15 years and just drop them over because the government is so hateful and made you be nasty to her? No reason to be nasty Mickey, over a silly Covid shot wow big deal Mickey. There's no doubt about the musical talent of MT & The Starship, but knowing how the phenomenal co-lead singer Stephanie Calvert was tossed out of this band after 2 decades w/out any explanation is an absolute slime move to me! Don't know MT personally but just listen to the heartfelt interviews Stephanie has shared and decide whether or not for yourselves if she was blind-sided w/out warning by Thomas, thoughtlessly discarded like trash. If there's more to the story besides radio silence from the Starship camp??? I'd welcome hearing it, tho presently, Stephanie's share is quite genuine and believable. Going forward, losing respect for an artist makes it difficult to enjoy the music as I once did, ironically, as a musician I've even enjoyed singing FA&F in Love, and covered guitar on J. Airplane songs in tribute bands as well. This type of disrespectful (wolf in sheep's clothing) behavior toward a dedicated bandmate, unprovoked, cannot be excused or tolerated regardless of any musical talent one might possess! Without speculation here, I'd be ignorant not considering the many examples of "Money' being the evil motivation to fire and re-hire new Vocalist at a reduced pay scale? But hey, not likely the case here, right? The Starship is officially grounded until I hear otherwise from Air Traffic Control. Peace out!
