As someone who's been in combat, I can tell you this is pretty damn accurate. I was always terrified going in, and once the shooting started I was basically a zombie. All muscle memory and reacting to the situation as it evolved around me but behaving not so much on thought but simply training kicking in, instinct in a way. It was after the shooting stopped that I'd throw up and my legs would start shaking.

The film is perfect. The novel was dissected as an advocate for Militarism & Fascism. The film was Verhoeven & Neumeier's commentary on the negative aspects of the novel and turn it on the unwary viewer, who would think it was just another CGI laden Sci-Fi summer-popcorn actioner. Just as they had cleverly done with Robocop, Starship Troopers is well written, biting, satirical, self aware comedy. I love it :)

***** NOPE, The Book doesn't promote Fascism. in fact it's very much against it. In the Book their Government is a Federal Republic. The book talks a lot about what's wrong with Democracy and the problems it has and how weak it is. Also talks about Communism and a few other Government types. When it comes to Government if anything the book promotes Service in order to be allowed the right to Vote. If you have earned the right to vote then you're vote means something and you won't toss away your vote or forget about voting since it's something you have "EARNED" also you don't need to Serve the Military to have the right to Vote. Serving the Military is the fastest way to earn the right. I think its 2 years of Military Service a little longer for Civil service.
