The Federation in Starship Troopers isn't fascist, if it was then why at any point in time would they do the following: inform the public about political failures and the reality of war, discourage people from enlisting at every available possibility, have their head of state resign after publically admitting their failures and allowing another to assume their place peacefully, not punish civilians for political dissent nor punish citizens for political dissent, have a complete lack of censorship despite having state controlled TV 24/7. there is more, but it simply is not a fascist system.

That was one of the few lines the director took from the book before just tossing it to the side. Since in the novel the MI ARE an elite force, much like the Power Troopers you get near the end of the campaign and they do work to not leave a man behind.

Honestly coop horde mode would be excellent. I vould totally see a co op mission of one player holding a fort and another moving in behind bug line slowly clear bug hives. Or even better have one player underground trying to kill specific bug structures and the player up top sending forces down through cleared bug holes.

This promising game was made by a very small development studio that apparently started with just 2 developers & slowly increased in size. I'm sure once they realise how popular this game is, and hopefully with more funding and personnel they can expand o their ambitions & increase coop and ability to also maybe play as Arachnids too

Honestly W40K, wouldn't exist if weren't for Starship Troopers. Power armor, guess from where this idea came from? Yep, Starship troopers... Now, theres a clear difference between the first movies to the book. The movies are more a satire while the book is way more serious. The whole "fascism" and military dictatorship stuff was take very serious, and not in a critical way...

Probably just the ones who read the books and knows what the true Starship Troopers is all about. Can you imagine if they did make a game based off the books instead of the movies? It would be crazy. The only media that was close to the books was the Starship Troopers 1988 OVA anime where they had actual power-armor.

I LOVE that there is no firing on men in the gun line and elevation comes into play! it adds a 3D strategy mindset to the battle field and ABOUT TIME! In future lets hope we see cliff assault troopers in games and guys that climb and set up positions even. I love games like the old R6 games on PC where the planning stage was intense and you can plan ahead in steps with go codes, this means you are watching your movie unfold in front of you and its THE MOST rewarding feeling I have ever had in a PC game. Some strategy games like doorkickers are similar. These devs really have put effort in and wanted it to be fun and as open to our own approaches as they could. love the set ups of cannons and things and the idea of nuking holes to stop spawns, for me power trips in games is a must for fun and the ability to play with that power and be encouraged with how fun it is. Havn't seen the nukes yet

[Intel] Battle tier is tied to the buildings you have. If you are battle tier 1 you must construct one of the left most buildings, which lets you build to battle tier 2 by killing bugs. So if you want to advance your tiers make sure you build a building moving to the right down the bar. (Only need one of each tier) For the harder difficulties, ability use becomes much more of a thing. One tip that may also assist you is watch if the tunnels/hives bug icons start blinking. If they are blinking they will deploy units to depletion. The closer/more units you have in proximity will increase the speed at which the bugs will deploy. So you can find long distance places to fight from that just grazes the deployment zone of the bugs to whittle them down.

Also Engineers are great at clearing hives since they only have the 3 people to get into the tunnel, if you've drained it completely.

One word of advice for anyone who wants to play this. Never send in an army of infantry into bug holes as you see at the end of the mission. A single unit enters much faster and clears the hole just fine if all the holes are empty. Engineers are actually great at this, since their small model count allows them to enter and trigger the clearing much faster, reducing the chance of one of the holes refilling.

You can leapfrog front units toward or away from danger to bait out the bugs. Set up a fall back position and wear them down and get some experience.

I played Starcraft II expecting to be fun, after a few missions I had no fun at all, it like the original Starcraft but better graphics, I didn't want to play There are Billions, and not fun of zombies games apart of State of Decay and Resident Evil, and look what come out in the corner, Starship Troopers Terran Command that is like There are Billions but some more mechanics add in, this game is way harder than it looks, because the Arachnids would shred apart your units when the hordes come.

So, a few things you got wrong but I don't blame you for thinking such. 1, the Rifle troopers do loose power with casualties, they say units like snipers and rockets dont because damage is more linked to rate of fire and less troops means less guns. And the difficulty doesnt scale enemy health it reduces/increases your damage. On higher difficulty, you do less damage but the bugs don't change. Oh hives scale with supply

22:10 on you saying the difficulty spikes the enemy's health. It actually just changes the damage output of your own units. So normal you're doing x1.0 standard level of damage. Then each star on either side on the difficulty is a 0.5 incremenet. On Brutal, you'll only be doing x0.5 damage. The only reason I haven't done this through the campaign yet is because of Scorpion bugs.

If you didn't know, you can mod the scorpion bugs out of existence by modifying the game files. It makes watching the combat much more enjoyable with those damn things gone. Honestly, I hope the devs add in a target priority for troops at some point, the scorpions would be much less annoying if I didn't constantly have to micro rocket troopers to attack them, and the same with spitter bugs/sniper infantry...

Tactical Officers went from one of my least to most favorite units when I started playing on higher difficulties. That damage zone is nearly essential.

4:45 it's somewhat comparable to SC Campaigns. The dig in and move up to a new position playstyle. There's elevations *similar* if not the same. Line of sight through units ofc is different. It's certainly it's own unique RTS, definitely a good thing. Close enough to other stuff so it's what people know how to play, and unique enough that's it is it's own game.

Omg a new starship troopers game??? Why tf have I not heard of this thats my fav movie of all time. I remember playing an fps starship troopers YEARS back and i loved it to death knowing it was a shitty game. Ive never played an RTS in my life but I will be getting this 100% and learning the genre for it. Dope video man! I didnt even think there were people out there who recognized this franchise nowadays let alone make a game based on it. Never thought id be seeing warrior bugs again in 2022.

I literally had a war of attrition in one of the mission on one side of the map. It took a whole 30 min just for me to loose my best units countless times for a hive.

E-Pulse Troopers are probably my favorite. If I’m not mistaken the gun is supposed to be a railgun that fires a relatively large slug, which accounts for its high armor piercing stat and overall I find it works well when paired with rocket troopers and a radio operator or fleet officer.

I started watching the first one he did on Twitch. 50 minutes in and he hadn't grasped why he could build more MG's at one moment or why he couldn't bring more engineers in. I'll watch more and eventually "catch up" over the next few days but that was surprisingly painful to watch.

The white markings with 1 2 3 are side missions, the red ones are main mission. So for max completion do white before finish the last red.

White shields are unclaimed radio stations. Smaller white boxes with an X are supply crates. White hexagons are empty bug hives. Red hexagons are occupied bug hives. Blinking red markers are active bug hives that send out attacks. Stars are objectives.

What this game misses is a campaign where you play as the bugs + a skirmish mode that you can also play in competitive multiplayer. (Some kill animations would be perfect to top it off)

This looks good! I really wish they'd do a game faithfully based on the book, though. Mobile Infantry in Heinlein's novel were armored, could leap hundreds of meters, and had a rocket with a tactical nuke warhead for that bit of extra 'fvck this grid square in particular'. Imagine a first person shooter based on that.

its a very stop and go, fire and manouver game, that rewards individual unit micro and special usage. overall map strategy as well. rush objectives, or provoke hives too early/in wrong order and you can loose.

i would suggest taking the challenging option, instead of medium difficulty, really brings out the feel of immense nummbers and difficulty in killing them on meedium they die a bit too easy

The funny thing is that in the movie they were extremely difficult to kill early on. And then for plot purposes, they became easier to kill as the movie progressed.

Still watching the video, but I really enjoyed the game, my biggest gripe is there isn't a lot of incentive to come back to it at this time. Some of the missions like the one you showed, are pretty open ended and allow many different approaches to completing the mission. But some are very linear and will have the same units every time. As others have said having co-op or a skirmish mode would help a lot. Personally I would love the option to play as the bugs too. Also if you click on a bug hive, it should show you all tunnels connected to it represented by dotted lines.

yeah the "tactical" officer isnt my favorite either ill say hes basically useless imo. Pulse and super troopers are my favorite im sure alot of people enjoyed the super troopers Edit: 22:48 the Hive strength is based on the Hive growth so as your trying to drain the hive if one of the tunnel still has a bug Icon flashing red or is red it means the tunnel or hive hasnt been drained and the Hive shares that strength with the tunnels lets say the hive itself holds 3 bug icons but it has a tunnel attach that also holds 3 this makes the hive strength 6.0 but if you drain the tunnel or the hive then the Hive is gonna have a strength of 3.0 also the bug Icon on these are like Reserve units so expect alot of bugs (this Icon also gives you a heads up on scorpion, Royal, and tank bugs) incase you havent figured it out yet

The Tac officer is amazing. His grenade Launcher is good for killing tigers, and slows most bugs. His ability makes anyone in the circle flare weaker. So on brutal it's amazing for killing tigers, tankers, and scorpions with basic rifles. When he hits elite his offensive rally ability makes it to where a single rifle squad can basically tear through tigers. Which is great because you get missions where you don't have anything but those basic rifles to kill tigers, scorpions, and tankers.

@@stingingblade I haven't tried any higher difficulty but that still sounds useless imo, im glad you found a use for him, I just use pulse rifle squads, rockets, and radio ops or Fleet Liaison those pulse rifle shred through bugs like butter till the Royal guard shows up

@@AC-uw4il I found the tac officer is useful for Royal Guards on Brutal. Not only does his elite offensive ability increase firing rate, and armor pen. So you can make it where your pulse rifles basically shred anything. But his grenade launcher slows Royal guards to a near crawl, even before their second health bar.

I found engineers are best for clearing hives. Only three troopers to enter and exit so takes less time as a full rifle squad. And there flamers make getting close in the first place easy

There are 4 difficulty levels, the difference between them is the rate of fire Normal 1x challenge x0.75 ... I faced real competition with bugs in this mission on a challenging x0.75, but with you it seems very easy .
