No you haven't. My guess is you have likely been trained to be fearful, taking note of the dips while dismissing the good, only accepting specific narratives from the demographic that raised you. Believing in this nonsense is a signal that you have no ability to make valid comparisons to gauge a trend, or really to assess reality around you in any aspect. But don't be too mad, it's very common. The religious have shackled the human mind for several millennia all around the world, and modern politicians have also leveraged these methods. Americans are living better than ever before in history. Yes, there is a looming massive correction or bubble in the markets, and wages have been in decline since the 70s relative to growth, but the access to wealth and knowledge of health and everything else, is far greater now than ever before, even accounting for the shitbag behavior of DC and corporate America to deregulate protections for the people. Americans also enjoy far more liberty than ever before... well up until that piece of shit tramp had his constituency start taking people's rights. But in general the latest age is the peak of civilization. There's a cause for this too: academia. Namely the sciences, but still, the wealth of knowledge is increasing thousands of times faster than even a century ago, and even though the religious might have a stranglehold on the majority of their victims, academics have pushed them aside with ease building this great civilization and everything in it. For academics are responsible for building this whole thing! Everything, every invention, cure, convenience, every piece of knowledge and insight, is due to their efforts, not the politicians, or the religious who both make claims inserting themselves into progress; nor the layman or anyone else. Learn how to validate all incoming data. It takes time and study, but it changes how the brain functions.

If individuals in the US do not heed the advice of economists like Mr. Richard Wolff, they may face negative consequences. The most notable action by President Trump was the threat of imposing 100% tariffs on certain countries - a move that could potentially destabilize the US economy. I agree with the analysis offered by Professor Wolf given in this video. I'm an average American still working in my 70s to make ends meet and I think the writing is on the wall. Americans are finally taking a stand by voting for Trump and hoping for some changes that improve the lives. I'm not sure that that will work our and if it fails to work out I expect that those same American will use extra judicial means to bring about the change that the majority want to see. We recently saw a fairly average citizen end the life of a healthcare CEO. That was just the tip of the iceberg you ask me and no amount of "protection" will keep similar acts from occurring. The only thing that will keep CEOs safe is a massive redistribution of income from the entitled class to the ordinary workers which is so long overdue. Income and wealth has increased for a tiny minority over the past five decades and it's time for a correction.
@notbaltic28027 күн бұрын
He is anti-capitalist - in manner of Marx etc. So he propagates material to hasten the demise of capitalism. The only justification for a redistribution of wealth is if those it is distributed to contribute to society in a meaningful way - beyond just supporting themselves and their immediate dependents. Musk is rich because of the massive risks he took to back up the products of his creativity. He still does. For every Musk there are millions who don´t make it - but they try. The reason Musk found it so incredibly hard to establish his products, is because of bureaucracy and taxes (the latter which are designed to support those "ordinary workers"). Here´s a thing - however hard those "ordinary workers" work - none will work as hard as entrepeneurs like Musk. None of them will put up with that level of precarity either eg for many years Musk had no home - was sofa hopping and relying on handouts from friends. Because as an entrepeneur you are working so you get no government welfare or benefits. Not in the US, not in Europe, not in Asia. That tiny minority are in the main part those who do risk all - family, friends, health, etc to create - and their creations provide work and opportunity for those "ordinary workers". So stop continually biting the hand that feeds you.

Yes and No Mr Wolff - The US Empire was always a Myth imo cos it was based only on military and economic strength. GDP is a very poor indicator. This allowed the US to be a world bully and often a mass murderer of innocents in Vietnam, Cambodia and now Palestine. However, this coincides with total failure on all the much more important social/happiness criteria. US is way down list of developed nations on standard of living and every social/happiness criteria while you're on top in crime rates, gun ownership, poverty, inequality, rascism, drug dependency, obesity, religious fanaticism and mental illness. These social/happiness indicators are clear evidence of a FAILED STATE. Your bully boy military power is a temporary charade that you've paid an appalling price for. Most of the US social issues could be solved by shaving off 10% of your military budget. But that will obviously never happen. The US is now a failed state with the dumbest and most ignorant population in the developed world.....

This is a phase in the Rise & Fall of Empires "we" (The West) are in the Age of Decline, unless you have had your heads buried in the Sand for the past 15 odd years, you would have slowly noticed things have taken a turn for the worse, standards have fallen, systems are failing, buying power has reduced, there is a general melees over the population, you notice things are not what they used to be.. Many things have already peeked or have just Plateaued. We have also seen massive accumulation of Wealth to the top stratus of the population where to them it may feel like they are still in the age of Decadence which helps to explain why they haven't got the message the majority of people/economy is in decline. Cyclical moves over time shows Hegemony oscillates between East & West, now its returning back to the East and is China's turn. There have been so many signs this is what's happening.

Some economists have projected that both the U.S. and parts of Europe could slip into a recession for a portion of 2025. A global recession, defined as a contraction in annual global per capita income, is more rare because China and emerging markets often grow faster than more developed economies. Essentially the world economy is considered to be in recession if economic growth falls behind population growth.

I think the apex years were the years we spent in Viet Nam for various reasons that I won't go into here. One could say that the US collapse could have been predicted on July 4th, 1776. I believe it was Buddha that said, "everything created will end".

I never felt like I was benefitting from living in an empire. I'd rather not. So I was kind of glad that it was declining. I have felt like I live in an occupied land where rich and powerful people own everything and I can't get a piece of the pie. The decline feels like their decline so maybe something good can finally happen now.
@DoraSharp-l8f25 күн бұрын
So, given that the US is in decline, how can we best prepare ourselves ???
@jamarditos24 күн бұрын
Don't stress about it. There have been others who have also fallen and the citizens are still here. Don't worry and behave. Soon you won't be the bullies of the neighborhood. Maybe it's better that you start getting along with your neighbors, just in case someone waits for you to fall to pass the bill to you. You will see what transition you want to make. At the moment, being your ally is already very expensive and for Europe, Ukraine has gone very badly for us.

Germany was economically strong that was the reason for that war and that was the reason it was bombed to the ground and that was the reason the empire whose monarchs were figure heads with no say in anything had to do what was told to them. I would love to know the full reason for the abdication by Edward 'Windsor" who should have been the crown prince annulled his rights as King of the Empire over to his niece the lovely Queen Elizabeth.

GDP is a fake measure. It doesn't account for how much is actual useful activity and how much is simply moving paper around. If I give my neighbor $100 to dig a hole, and he gives me $100 to fill it back in, we've increased the GDP $200. People will say 'but that's the only available statistic' - that's like the drunk looking for his car keys under the street light not because he lost them there, but because the light is better.

Germany, of course, was much more than "decimated" by the allies - review the photos from Munich to Hamburg. American pilots ran out of targets at the end and just bombed the Alps. George Marshall was a genius other than how France was allowed to spend our largess. The psychology is strained but the economic arguments are convincing. China doesn't want the debt obligations which flow with replacing the dollar as reserve currency. Editing this piece could make it more powerful.

All pretty accurate except - side note - the war of 1812 wasn’t Britain trying to reestablish empire over the USA ( although Americans keep being told that, as here). It had more to do with American desire for Canada and Britain stopping and searching US ships in the blockade of France. Neither side really won the war, maybe the USA was slightly the greater loser. Not much in it.

It is true that China’s GDP and personal wealth has been growing at faster rates than in US. But currently, GDP for US is at about 27 trillion dollars and for China it is 17 trillion dollars. GDP per capita is then about $89K in US vs $12K in China. It is premature to say “it is over”. It would “be over” once China actually overtakes. Economically speaking that is.

Considering Bitcoin's evolution, I aim to capitalize on its potential. With an 80% allocation to equities and 20% in cash, my strategy incorporates the S&P 500's anticipated growth of over 10% this year. My primary concern lies in optimizing a sizable stock and bond portfolio to achieve significant returns while mitigating risk.
