Margreth before you ever touch the tension always change the needle as so often in the problem is the needle isn’t sharp people think you can keep using the needle until it breaks but as soon as they aren’t sharp it mucks the sewing up. A great tip which makes a fabric journal cover much nicer,,,, apply Heat N Bond to both the I side and outside fabric pieces. No glue will seep through the fabric!! Brilliant!!

@@SevenplazaCreative you will be happy to know I have drug my sewing machine out of storage. I discovered the most useful item in the case with it…a users manual! Does yours have one? Well, I think they all should come with one. I learned ever so much and actually managed to set it up correctly (this time) and eventually made one seam in basic stitch and one in zig-zag without anything going awry. We are on speaking terms so far. The dragon may not be slain, but at least he is not burning things down. Huzzah!

Margareth, you are a wonderful woman! I have so enjoyed this journal making today, I especially loved the sewing parts 🤭. I do enjoy sewing so I applaud you for being out of your comfort zone! Could I suggest that you ask your mum or sewing friends about interfacing? It comes in an iron on version and various weights, it is designed to stiffen fabrics and gives them more body….and used by lots of fabric crafters. More things to play with 🥳. Keep crafting you make my day 🥰

Beautiful journal cover! So happy you and your sewing machine are getting along. Love the corner pcket with the handkerchief, I will be using that idea myself when I journal next. Quick note on your pink scalloped trim; if you line up the cut edge with the embroidered edge they would pretty much match. The trim is embroidered by machine then the scalloped edge is cut. So the cut edge on the top of one piece of trim is actually cut from the bottom of another row of trim. I hope that makes sense I'm rather rubbish at explaining things. I'm going ro run quick and dig a bubble mailer out of the recycle bin before it goes out! Lol

This turned out beautiful and springy. It's a change for you but I love it. The colors are wonderful. I'm really curious what kind of nice spring type pages you are going to put in as you signature or signatures. You really should have more confidence with yourself. I think it's just such a wonderful challenge to try doing something you've never done before. I believe if you had problems by doing something wrong on a project you should show us the video anyway. Then set about trying to resolve the problems you have. I think it would give your viewers something precious. Too many creators do projects and edit it until they fix their mistakes. I would like to see the initial mistake and then watch try and resolve all the issues you had. I think it would give people like me, who like to watch but decide not to try because you showed us what could go wrong and in the end eventually fix it. Thank you Margreth, for doing some sewing. I have a sewing machine that I tried to use once trying to do something that another creator just zip zip zap ended up with something perfect, and when I tried I had all sorts of problems with thread breaking, needle breaking, tangles or a birds nest underneath and crooked stitching. Needless to say I never tried it again, which is a shame because I have a nice sewing machine but I no longer want to do any regular sewing (I mostly just hemmed thing or fixed tears or easy sewing.
