Well were 2 months in, and it's going lol. Luckily she is cute, but her hair looks like a fuzz ball at the roots. Also, I havent put any products in her hair, and for the first time it is retaining moisture and feels super soft, so I think it was a good choice. Her hair shrunk up to her shoulders, but overall she enjoys it and that's all that matters

For those thinking of doing this, especially with locs of this size, I would recommend a “brick” pattern so the end result lays with more coverage and fills gap between rows of locs. The locs have a stacked appearance, if that makes sense.

Melzina Hawkins it’s not a hold like eco gel but when I use it I get a nice silky hold and I have type 4 hair and my locs now are about 6 inches long. It doesn’t flake either. You can also pair it with all natural Shea butter and grease scalp with olive oil or castor oil/ coconut oil.

She will be 10 years old next month (Aug 2, 2020) and I have been perming her hair since she was 3 (I know I know I feel so bad please don’t drag me) however about a year ago I stopped perming it and let her natural hair grow out and just two weeks ago I cut the permed ends off and now her natural hair looks amazing. I don’t think people are speaking to be rude but to HELP. Why not take advice from time to time ? Be open to criticism or to listen , you learn more that way . Experience some growth. You remain stagnant and stuck when you choose to always do things your way.You can never know to much nor are you too old to learn something new. You can avoid problems in life by simply listening .And if he don’t apply let it fly . Take what you need and leave the rest . I know my comment is unsolicited but maybe someone open to learning will see this comment and learn something . Blessings to anyone who is reading . Ase

Yesssssssssss Hunni, do it! Take the journey together. It makes it easier to go through it with someone, even your child. I love giving mine a fresh retwist and style with mine and vice versa

I had locs a couple years ago but ended up cutting them because I could never twist them on my own and didnt wanna go to a hair salon because they were so pricey. Now I actually feel encouraged to start them again

I would love to see an update. I started my younger son's locs but combed them out after 2 months. I didn't use the best starter method for his hair. That was a year ago. I think I'm ready to start them again using this method...

I’m starting my daughters locs today. We’re starting with 2 strand twists and interlock at the root. I think she’ll have to interlock rather than twist because she’s very active n I don’t think re-twists will last.
@ItsMissChas5
@ItsMissChas5 4 жыл бұрын
Definitely alternate; Just dont interlock EVERY time!!!

Thank you so much for sharing! We have struggled with our 3 year old sons locs. We've done all professionals and it never stuck.. We recently decided to go with 2 strand twist starter locs and I've been nervous about the retwist (that's usually when things don't work out) Thank you!

My 5yo daughter has a peanut head with fine hair. I’m going to wait until she’s a bit older to start hers. Oh and there’s nothing wrong with eco. Do what’s best for your baby.

SPEAKING AS AN HAIR CARE PROFESSIONAL All I see is a mother trying to make sure HER DAUGHTER’S locs won’t pop nor break ,due to lack of moisture,When your hair is going through the stages hair itself won’t be the same.. That baby hair looks good hydrated and beyond healthy...I didn’t see no buildup or anything 🤷🏽‍♀️.What works for her now might not work for her later .(& I’m pretty sure mama knows that) PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THOSE WHO HAVE NEGATIVE COMMENTS (etc) ..EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN WAYS OF MAINTAINING HEALTHY HYDRATED HAIR...MIND YALL OWN & LET THIS MOTHER DO WHATS BEST FOR HER (I REPEAT) HER DAUGHTER’S HAIR❗️...P.S Your doing a great job💜🥰

Locs are something that's permanent. I feel like kids she chose how they like their hair. I let my kids pick their own styles and I style from their. My mother would choose my hair styles growing up. Not knowing I didn't like it at all.

I just did a similar video on my son ! His locs were started with Jamaican mango and lime and I was gonna try jam on it but I am not tryna add anymore product buildup to his hair so I have started doing his hair myself (still learning) but I’ve been retwisting him with rosewater and vitamin e only !! It holds beautifully ! Just as good as any holding product in my opinion .. check it out 🤷🏽‍♀️
