On a 2009 Ford Focus 2.0 engines...You can easily change that starter from under the car without removing anything except maybe a little stay in place hose clamp...

@@rays9131 After hours of being pissed off I magically came upon a good angle; I used an extra short well socket with 3” extension and came in from top of the skinny cooling line. Cheers brother

@pdtech4524 .. you can do it from the bottom. I had just replaced the motor. Before I assemble everything, I just wanted to show how to replace the starter.

You will have to climb underneath the car, if you can't reach it from the top.
