I barely started and every customer doesn't care if you use their water or electric. One customer even let me use and help me set up his own canopy for me to use. I detail out of a Scion iM, it's a hatchback. I fit everything I need and still have space to spare. They don't even care what you drive lol

I just found your podcast and I love it!! Thank you so much for your invaluable time. I started my mobile business 8 months ago and thankfully I've been doing well. Everything you said it's so right on, I use my clients water and electricity and no one has a problem with that. I let them know in advance what I need from them at arrival. Honest and clear communication is key.

I'm just getting my business off the ground, gonna be mobile to begin with working out of a Kia Sedona. Plans to eventually be Brick & Mortar and be able to design my dream garage. My philosophy with pricing is to research the market and find out the average of what a building lease would cost, and price my mobile service as if I was already paying for the building. My low expenses of being mobile allows me to build a cushion so that when I do decide to get a building I already have the move-in costs covered, and at least a month or two of utilities. This also allows me to not have to raise prices and possibly lose customers.

I work out of my garage. I also go mobile at times in my 2020 mustang GT. I take my supplies and I use their water and power with no issues.

I live in s medium sized town and have had three new shops open up in my town in the last year. They all flood the local groups with their ads and I don't really want to clutter up the feeds of people as there are so many detailers. How do you combat this?

It wouldn't matter, most ppl don't care who doing the work, they just want someone punctual and professional, and someone to give the results they are looking for.. sometimes my sister works with me and is Phenomenal doing interiors, not her passion or interest at all, so if try it out, start with friends and family.. and if you like it and enjoy the work then expand service to public and start your business..

1) dewalt stealthsonic vacuum with Ridgid auto detailing kit as well as a couple extra filters 2) steam cleaner (i use Dupray Tosca although it's $1,000 machine and you can definitely experiment with cheaper ones) 3) Active 2.0 pressure washer (do yourself a favor though and upgrade the hose to a 40 foot steel-braided hose) 4) all-purpose cleaner (ideally a 5 gallon jug of SUPER concentrated stuff that you can dilute to make 200ish gallons. I dilute mine 97:1 (97% water) = no staining, safe on leather. Combined with a steam cleaner it works well. 5) wheel cleaner 6) chemical gloves to use with the wheel cleaner 7) mask (so you don't breathe in the acidic wheel cleaner) 8) clay towel (can use on like 40 cars) 9) lots o' microfiber towels. My favourite is the rag company gauntlet (small one for inside windows, large one for car exterior 10) wax - Collinite 845's a good beginner wax (shiny, easy to apply, lasts 3-4 months) Those are the basics

Hey guy, Just a thought... Why would someone ask for a" like" or even MORE , to "SUBSCRIBE, ' to what you are putting out. That's like going to Applebee's and the server asking you to go on ahead and give him a big ol tip and to post how awsome he is on the local fb group! Lol. Just ask toward the end. It makes sense right? Just sayin. P. S. I subscribed. Good luck with everything. 👍

I'm in a position most people would only wish for. I get a monthly retirement check from the military so I'm financial stable at the moment and that money will always be there. So why am I so afraid to pull the trigger in this business venture? Do I need my own water and power? If so then I need a truck or trailer! Do I need insurance. A license? How do I find my first customer? Flyers? Friends? Neighbors? Google? Where do I start on getting a website. I want to dive into this but honestly what if I am successful and I find out it's to much for me to handle on my own? Do I hire someone? Back off customers minimize the work load? How do I manage books or even taxes? I don't know how to do any of this shit. It's all so over whelming man.

I completely get it dude. It’s overwhelming for sure. But you’ll never figure it out all in one sitting. You just have to start. There is so much that goes into having a successful business. It doesn’t happen over night but it can happen quicker than you know it. Dude, I’d highly recommend joining thedetailcommunity.com/join We go really in depth in there on tools, strategies, and everything you need to know to get where you want to go in this industry. Plus you get a support group of other members they are already inside.

@@tommym8918 I must disagree with you. 37 years of chasing a carrot isn't to long for anyone. I'm not giving up because "I don't have to do it" I'm financially stable now yes but I want financial freedom. I'm still working on my degree in radiology. I served my country and now I'm going to start a business. Maybe a few of them. That good enough mentality is just something I never had. I'll never be satisfied with having good enough.

All you need is the basics to get started, water hose, extension cords, shop vac, bucket, wash mitts, microfibers, and the chemicals and you can start tomorrow.. Greetings Detail Spot. Just found your channel. I'm trying to run a detailing service out of my home but currently battling my HOA. I would like to go mobile however, I've spoken with a lot of people asking would it be okay if a mobile detailer used your water and power and every answer has been an absolute NO! They state as a mobile detailer you should have the proper tools if I'm paying for your services. How would you respond to that?
@thedetailspot2 жыл бұрын
This is a great question. I honestly started using the clients water and electricity. Most clients didn’t care and the ones who did care it generally wasn’t people that I truly wanted to do business with. As I grew some funds up I later invested in a water tank and generator. When you arrive to their location just professionally ask where the water and power source is.
@mattmccauley55612 жыл бұрын
Idk man, yeah some don't care but when they spend 3-4-600 on a deatil you should have your own shit and not have to use the customer who is paying you to do a job and then having to have you use their water and electricity. So if im a plumber and you call me to fix your shitter and I show up with a wrench and screwdriver and say oh hey I need your tool box and whatever else to do the job!! You'd tell him to leave. Same principle here. Just me. If you can't have your own equipment soyou don't have to use the customer's own stuff to do your job that you are charging them for I'd say hang it up and do something else. Simple as that.
