How did you keep gas from leaking from the coke bottle like that

+Brandon T sorry for the late reply. drill a hole in the plastic coke bottle smaller than the fuel hose and force it in, due to it being a plastic cap, the hose expands slightly sealing the hole, don't forget to put a small hole in the bottom of the bottle to assist with gravity otherwise it will start compressing the bottle as it tries to suck out the fuel.(Once your bottle is upside down of course.)

You didn't mention petrol. I worked out from the comments that it's in that upturned coke bottle, but you didn't explain that. Would have been a better video if you explained how you set up the petrol supply.

Interesting vid. How do you stop the oil leaking out of the pot joints?

+newuk26, In regards to the pots leaking, yes there is a small drip but nothing serious, hence the cardboard. as long as you have seals etc installed.

Hi hope someone can help me with this but I've got a striped mini. And I'm trying to see if the engine will run but I can't find the leads coming out of the distributer cap. There only one black lead and it's too short to reach the coil.

There's your problem- the striping. Striped minis always have a short black lead too short to reach the coil. You need to buy an unstriped mini.

hi there just in the process of doing a 1256 mini engine out of car and need it starting to check an oil leak,, question is will it harm the alternator without it being connected to anything apart from the fanbelt,,cheers

+roberty bob sorry for the delay, hope you got your engine up and running and found the leak. If you have no radiator on you need to be careful you do not run the engine to long as it will over heat. In regards to the alternator, i do not believe you will do any harm to it.

+mini mad hi again thanks for the reply.,..have found the oil leak between head and block it's at the rear right hand side ..and yah we left the radiator on so engine could not overheat although we found the leak almost instantly... any ideas has to why it should leak? head and block both been skimmed at local engineering shop head bolts all tightened as described in the manual... we tried 3 head gaskets including a copper type but still leaks oil from said point.....thanking you rob...

if your talking about the engine moving it does not. You do not need anything tied down. The engine will sit there. Mine is sitting on a pallet with nothing attached.

You've got a little kick stand on the side there stopping it from falling over.

@@tomknud hi Tom. No nothing at all attached. Radiator on one side clutch on the other sitting on a piece of cardboard for any drips. You don't need anything. I think what you see is the double section of exhaust out the back??
