Just a quick hey! Been watching your videos for awhile now. Based on your deck size I would suggest placing your deck boards at an angle to your trusses. This let's you purchase 1 size board for the entire build, run them slightly long and then just strike a line at the end and cut the ends off. I did it with my 12' deck using 16' boards and it looks amazing. Everyone comments when they see the angled boards. Also, no butt joints to warp over time.

You'll love having that big of a deck. This is the only channel that I would like to see longer video's. This is for 'NEXT TIME' you need foundation holes. Dig the hole with the backhoe. Build a wood box frame the size you need for the concrete. A lot less labor.

You could have added Calcium chloride to your concrete mix to speed up the setting of the concrete in winter months.

Water in concrete does not evaporate. Water is part of the chemical reaction for the cement paste to cure and crystalize. Concrete is a mixture of water, sand, aggregate (stone, usually), and cement paste. Fun fact: Concrete never stops curing over its lifetime. Something I learned in architecture class for foundation pouring. :)

My immediate and emotional response was "because that was a big LIFE that you took out of there." I am NOT faulting you for your plans. What I would really like is for you and all of your followers to acknowledge what is being taken down and taken out. Don't feel guilty, just feel grateful for what came before. I want all of us to feel grateful for what came before and created the world we live in. Happy Yule 2022. Be happy and be prosperous. Live in peace and happiness. Live long and prosper. I also have an electric hammer, but tis 2800 watts! Only powered by my gas generator. BUT, the reason for the comment, I got tamper tools for it too. I put in 670' of fence and it was all rock and shale. 6" top soil, then the hard stuff. Auger to place the hole, then hammer loose and remove with manual post hole tool. No concrete, too hard to replace if a post gets damaged, so backfilled with crushed limestone and tamp. The tamping bit on the power hammer really was a saver! Took me most of the summer, I'm 63 and needed rest days, but got it done.

Make a vapor barrier tent by blowing air into an area with the plastic anchored on 3 sides, and most of the 4th. You can then put a heater inside and pour concrete year around. My uncle told me that is how he has poured at -20F up here in Alaska, while inside the makeshift tent would be between 40-60F depending on the heater and area heated.

Estimate the amount of water needed for you mix (ad most but not all into your mixer) (I'd use hot water 60F-70F or even hotter, and it will give you time to let the concrete go off before freezing) (We ad ice to do the same but opposite here on hot days) Add your cement Than ad your gravel/sand for a easy and well mixed brew Adjust the required water according to your wants and needs for your project mix at the end Cheers and keep up the good work ... That is going to be a good size deck, the views should be pretty nice from up there. Damn that is one heck of a snowblower you picked up, that is going to make clearing the long driveway so nice. Keep lots of shear pins handy as you have lots of rocks in the driveway. If doing the concrete again in frozen soil preheat the holes. You could light a fire in each, and cover them in insulation or straw after the pour to help keep the heat. You can use your excavator and either cardboard or PVC pipe. You dig a bigger hole, drop in the tuoe and pack back around the tube after filling the tube with the concrete footing.
