It's a good machine. I got many hours of work from it. I haven't used it since I got the 40V electric head. I thought I might try to motorize a bicyle with it.

@@accidental_relevance indeed - i usually store mine full with stabilizer - no problems starts up after months of no use - drain fuel and fill fresh every season

It's easier to start if you follow the starting instructions. You need to hold the throttle wide open while pulling the cord. Only when the engine is warm/hot can you get away with just pulling the cord with no throttle.

Been using ryobi weedater for over 20 years. It's basically make sure filter is clean, spark plug clean, and follow the instructions of the w/e for how to start. Might have to do a carb adjustment, ez enough, it just 2 screws. 5here are videos on here showing how.

You should not have to use this method with a new machine. Be sure you're following the procedures in the starting instructions first. I used this one for several seasons before I had any trouble starting it

@@accidental_relevance since it was new it took a while to start eventually it did, after like, 30+ min pulls. When it started I did it on half choke then full, I skipped the full choke. And I pressed the accelerator like 10+ times each try. This machine was very difficult to start as a new one. Next time I'll go lithium since it will start once the battery is charged lol.

@accidental_relevance
@accidental_relevance 3 жыл бұрын
It wasn't really difficult to start when it was new. This trimmer is I guess about five years old. I have talked to another person who was not pleased with how his trimmer like this started. But overall I'm pleased with the performance of this trimmer other than being a little cranky to get it going.

Shouldn't be hard at all if it is new. If you gonna use it after 6 or more months from storage, it might if you didn't follow storing guide in the manual. Then, the carby will go bad after storing it and won't work. It applies to any petrol-powered machine.

If you are having problems with one of these ryobis starting drain the fuel tank. Set the shaft in a vice to secure it. Take your dremel bit about mid shaft.....proceed to grind through shaft. You will come to a cable.... cut that with a hacksaw. Now you can stick that piece of Trash inside a 40 gallon garbage bag... fill remainder of trash bag up with smelly kitchen waste and the trash man will pick it up and never know.

No! Buy the carburreter ++ service kit. Only about $20 1. Empty the tank. 2. Clean the Spark Arrester screen and the exhaust of soot 3. Replace the fuel lines and new fuel filter. 4. Open up the carburetter and clean with Carburreter cleaner. 5. If necessary replace the diaphram and seals or install new carburretor. 6. Fill with fresh 40:1 petrol-2T oil mixture. 6. Start the trimmer and adjust the H and L jets. Will run like new if you avoid usiing petrol (gasoline) that contains ethanol. (I have a Ryobi 30cc PLT3043S that is still working even after 20 years and a Homelite 25cc brush cutter about 5 years old. Both start easily.
