Love it, this is the demonstration that Ultramarines aren’t flavorless, simply people can’t kitbash them for good, I ordered a box of agastus too and was tempted to convert the Lieutenant too, by swapping the standard power sword for a Gladius from the old upgrade kit and adding also some stuff from the primairs upgrade, but since I want to build all the various loadout I think I’ll go for plasma and fist

this makes me think you guys could put out a "Tale of 4 Armies" style set of videos, with each video an update or the army from each one of your creators, you could each put out a little mini painting guide for a part of a model, the armour of this guy, the swords of these guys, how to do these bases. This would mean each video wouldn't be rehashing painting the same armour scheme, but it would also allow each of you to paint a small armies worth of models for your own projects. TBH either way I will watch it, really like your content.

I am not an Ultramarine fan but this army project will be really cool! Love that you are bringing the legion aesthetic to Primaris and that's great. It'll be really cool to follow this and see the end result. I'm a Black Templar fan but they got their nice little legion kits for Primaris. More chapters need the same treatment if Primaris is going to be the only marine sculpts moving forward.

Was very close to doing Templars for this project. I agree completely, that was a great range of kits. Other chapters need that level of love.

@Cult of Paint the Templar units obviously have flair, but GW making the chapter upgrade kit with two different sprues was dynamite. Having bits to represent relics and also iconography needs to be done for every major chapter!

I've been in the hobby for nearly 25 years and you have echoed everything that I feel about primaris marines and the hobby in general. I've started my own conversion project where I'm sculpting the armour to look like the older marks and replacing the heads with mk6 and mk7. It's great seeing others do something to create that old school look. Loving your work!

I've had alot of issues with how the new minis look. I use grayknight helms on most of mine and other older heads, Chaos/devasters backpacks and other random bits. This adds back the bulk to them and makes them look a little knightly. If you do use some chaos backpacks make sure to remove anything too crazy on them. I also remove the chest icons and I add on grenades and other stuff so they look a little as the death watch chests do. Im not going to say my stuff is perfect but I think change like that can get you the old look on the new bodies.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about documenting your work. I'm debating how I do my own videos here on YT and how I might set up a Patreon for the people who DO want to sit through a long session of my at my airbrush booth. My watch stats show folks only stick around for a few minutes, so I think I'll be making very short vids here. I'm glad I'm not the only YT user trying to figure out how to produce and provide good content and still try to make this endeavour sustainable through donations/ad revenue.

I've been playing around with the idea of converting some primaris tyranic war vets with plenty of battle damage and improvised bits of amour, just as one offs/ display pieces, riffing on the Mark Gibbons illustration from back in the day, I guess March is the time to do it.

I like using the Tartaros terminator helmets on the intercessors. Gives a bulkier MK IV visage

like i dont dislike the Primaris helmet, but whenever i stick something else on, im immediately more excited about it lol. But i think it has more to do with it becomming something ''i've created'' rather than just coloring in the line so to speak. I mean i got a small force of Deathguard and it never really excited me to expand that army just because i went with the boxart colours.

I also got my Brutalis Dread early, and I had the same issues you did, the arms on mine were a fuckmothering nightmare and i had to lube the sockets with olive oil before they fit.

If you cut those weapons down change the cannon underneath with a 30k rotor cannon I think those models are vastly improved what I'll be doing, I wouldn't even bother with adding the missile weapon just say the gun fires different rounds for that profile

i also pick some HH ultramarine shoulder pad for my desolator squad. some goliath head (gonna try to make this but it might be too small, i will see i guess...), and all vengeful sergeant launcher for my 10 squad ( for me its the one that make more sens for the look).

These kind of videos are just as good if not more interesting... creating something more unique with narrative is far more engaging at most times... I like the idea of taking the Ultras and trying to do something cool with them, as they always come across bland and meh on the box art... have you seen Trovarian's latest painting video that was an Ultramarine, it was so good it's inspired me to paint blue....I also agree, more banners, bring back the banners... I think you should do some Bladeguard that are very gladitorial looking,,could you take some bare muscley arms from AoS and add that to a marine a bit like the old roman gladiators?

I only have 3 current Marine Related Projects 2 Complete (or allmost complete) and 1 Primed. They are 3 Kill Teams Compendium Deathwatch Memoirs of Isstvan 20 Men, in Mark III armour who are Survivors of Isstvan III who got sent through a warp eddy to M41 when trying to escape to warn the emperor. 5 WE, 5 DG, 5 EC, and 5 LW, I built them for KT 2018 where they were regular marines, But KT 2021 allowed more of them to be legal when played as Deathwatch. Only a Bolter and Stormshield guy Jan Kavari of the Luna Wolves and a Jump pack and 2 Chainswords guy Vincenzo Cattanaeo of the Wold Eaters with "Husq" and "Varna" his chainswords are not legal for KT2021 Now they are beset on both sides by the empire who think they are chaos and by chaos who know they are not. Their main goal is to find and kill as many of their former brothers as possible. Except for Kenji Yamada who has a secondary goal of reclaiming his collection of ancient Terran swords that he had of which he only posesses "Churchil's edge" a power sword he had made from the actual English broad sword used by Mad Jack Churchill during WWII Compendium Chaos Marines The Illuminated and the Cult of the Ancient Muse Loyalist Alpha Legion and Slaanesh Cultists they use as bate to lure out Eclesiarchy forces because they know that Leticio Divinitatus was written by Lorgar Aurellian and is a heretical book so all sisters must be purged. The cultists found ancient terran music recordings and took the names of ancient female rockstars and are made from Escher ganger models. and Lergionaries The Shrouded A legionary Roster of Word Bearers I still need to paint who I picked to be WB because I needed a truely chaos force for Memoirs of Isstvan to hunt One of the Shrouded Aspiring champions has a sword that formerly belonged to Kenji' Yamada's collection but it's been tainted by chaos now so when he finds it he will have to purge it.

Ive had similar problems with Primaris. I REALLY wanted a better/true scaled space marine for years. But I dislike the new helmets, I INTENSELY dislike the new primaris lore (screams fluff justification for marketing dept decisions to me) and I HATE the primaris hover tanks.

Hi Henry, you should check out Pete the Wargamer channel. He just started a Death Guard (loyalist) he looks awesome. I don't like the new Desolators, but these would be great for conversion work. With the new Brutus Dreadnought, believe this comes only in the box and not sold separately. Easy to buy normal and convert with 3d printed parts....love to convert, hate to paint.. Looking forward to your work...

I hate Shorts. I won't watch them. KZbin does not support watching Shorts via casting to a TV, which is the exclusive way I watch KZbin at home. So, I literally can't watch them how I watch all other KZbin content. Plus, Shorts really don't work well on TV anyway. So, if you do videos for this project on Shorts, I (for one) will completely miss out.
