I don't have a middle man. I farm all my loose leaf herbal tea. I harvest and process myself. I fill the individual Tea bags 16 to a box also use tins. I'm a true farm to table herbal loose leaf tea company just starting out. My Medicinal Moringa and Lemongrass tea blend is selling fast.

I came here when I learned about "cottage food" sales in my state and it allows tea to be sold without fees or licensing. The more I learn about these things, the more I realize that I never want to start any kind of business involving foods. 😅

Great info, thank you! My product is sold in teabags, though its not herbal. It contains powders, dried fruit/peppers, and in some flavors a sugar cube. Would a copacker still be able to produce it for me if its not strictly herbal?

Great question so where do you start with a tea company depends on what you really want to do with it if you want to create single loose leaf tea products or you want to begin to blend them a lot of businesses can be started from home actually because cottage food laws for the most part allow teas to be made so it's definitely something you have to check with your state but the 1st thing I would do is figure out a recipe or what kind of tease you want to work with before you start to get incorporated and get insurance and all that stuff

May I ask: If you have a supplier produce your blend then it’s shipped to you and you package it the way you’d like, can we package and sell online or is it considered a home business and would be limiters but the cottage state law?

From what I understand, if you handle the herbs at all then you're restricted to cottage laws. Otherwise you have to have access to a federally inspected Commerical Kitchen

You should check out the homebrew world, every homebrew store I've ever been in also caters to people making there own sodas and ginger beers and other specialty drinks. That'd be the place I'd look.

Thanks for asking it depends on actually your state's cottage food laws because those are the laws that regulate home based food businesses so starting from home with T yes most States actually allow you to do that but when it comes to selling them online most States won't allow you to operate a food business to ship a product interstate
