This was the only way I painted for the first 10 years. Just putting color on paper and let IT guide me. I’ve not really practiced this in some 20 years and I am grateful you painted this way. When it fits into your plans, I’d love to see another one. Thanks for the inspiration. Ahhhh, to be gifted. How fortunate you are.

You should definitely try painting like this Bobbie, you sound a natural! It can be so instinctive. Thank you for sharing that with us. I would love to paint something like this again. Watch this space 😊

Very much like Steve Mitchell spontaneous painting. Relieves the pressure of trying to replicate a photo or painting. I always love your generosity and I continue to grow and learn by your example 😎

I will be trying this today! I’m a tightly wound perfectionist and trying so hard to loosen up! I love very loose watercolor work but my own work, even with the best of intentions, often misses the mark as I overwork and overthink. I think this will be a helpful exercise for me. PS your end result is beautifully ethereal!

I was away from the internet for about 3 weeks. I surely missed your channel during that time. I am so glad to be back. I enjoyed this tutorial so much. I was amazed at how you started the painting with the random mix of washes. It's the first time I've seen anything like it. The painting is stunning. I was hoping you could explain what it means when you use the term "atmospheric"?
@KarenRiceArt
@KarenRiceArt Жыл бұрын
So pleased you are back and enjoyed watching this tutorial. When I say atmospheric, I mean . creating a distinctive mood of feeling of the weather. Not representational, more impressionistic and I try to use both soft marks and expressive brushstrokes. There is so much to say. I hope you he the idea 😊

Love the freeness of it all. How do you get your paper so wet without it buckling?
@KarenRiceArt
@KarenRiceArt 7 ай бұрын
Thank you 😊 I mostly use watercolour gummed blocks, which help with keeping the painting from buckling. I also use paper that is 300gms and that seems to help also. I hope this was helpful?
