So many of us are starting again after being successful and then regaining some or all of their weight. Here is what I have learned about restarting and how I am finding success with starting over again, once again.

Heather, you are awesome!! I followed you down the scale, losing all the weight and going from morbidly obese to getting to my goal of a norman bmi about a month after you hit yours. Then I followed you right back up the scale. I was so full of shame that I didn’t want to show my face in public. I am working on my mental health and I love your advice on picking one thing. I’ve been about 65% at getting to the gym 6 days a week. I’m going to focus on getting to 90%. I have also given myself permission to just do what I can do when my body rebels (plantar fasciitis is it’s latest protest). So I go to the gym and do arms instead of throwing in the towel. Thanks for inspiring me then and now. ❤

All I seem to crave is noodles, mashed potatoes, gravy (hot), and hot casseroles (with noodles). I like spaghetti…only with noodles. I like ketchup but never like tomatoes. Like brown rice, Bulgar wheat w/ onions & tamari sauce or sweet & sour sauce & some vegetables. I crave donuts glazed & almond croissants when i wake up. I’m too fat to exercise and have bone cancer ( metastatic breast cancer to spine, hips, sacrum & sternum). I beat it once with you…but fell WAY off my wagon. Struggling to give it one more shot. Dealing with our weight gains and mental health is just as important to talk about as weight loss. Many of us, maybe most of us, gain it back. I have done that all my life. I'm managing to eat mostly whole plant foods now, but I'm eating too many calories and not losing weight. I haven't been thin since 1982. Just keeping a healthy mental attitude while I keep trying to lose weight is truly remarkable, right?

I have been having to start over almost daily lately. I May have chosen the wrong time to begin again, but I am afraid that if I don’t get a grip, I will begin to gain again, which will have real consequences for my health. It is a slippery slope.
@myggggeneration10 ай бұрын
Deborrah - I think the expression "wrong time" is unfortunate. It just means it may be more difficult, but not wrong --- it's the best you can do under the circumstances. After all, once it's clear there's a problem, it makes sense to re-evaluate and adjust the goals. I agree with your trajectory -- don't give up, just change the route to one that is a better fit, and feels good 🙂

One of my neighbours is looking great. He told me that he quit drinking. He lost a lot of weight just because he stopped buying alcohol. I found that amazing, also because alcohol affects the brain in such a way that it's very difficult to stop getting back to it. I guess, we all have triggers that push us to choose something which harms us. Some eat because they are bored, some because they are anxious, some because they are depressed, some because they don't feel loved etc. Once the trigger is gone, we resume health. Because of all this, it's important to be prepared. I try to do my best. In a presentation, Dr Klaper explained that people can't lose weight when: ... they eat oils with high carbohydrate foods (refined), dried fruits and nuts, flour products (refined), dairy products and or they eat late at night. I've noticed that consuming wholemeal waffles and potatoes is good for me. The waffles are easy to prepare, crunchy and satisfying. Thanks to them I get more B vitamins and iron. I checked with Cronometer. Potatoes also contain iron and are satisfying. I eat both with salads, veggies, soups or tomatoes. I've been eating a great soup lately (the 'throw all the veggies in one pot' kind of thing). I keep the batter for the waffles in the fridge. It lasts for 2-3 days. My waffle machine is good, I don't need oil to brush it. I also make potato waffles (again, the batter can be stored in the fridge) instead of eating potato chips. I love the ranch dressing by Tami (Nutmeg Notebook), which also keeps for 3-4 days. If anybody needs the recipes, I'll gladly share them. I found out that I love radicchio as is so, when I don't feel like making a salad, I munch on it and make sure I have 2 carrots as well. Without them, I could see with Cronometer that I wouldn't have enough vitamin A. (Or cooking them in the soup is also something I do). I've tried eating some particular home made sweets when I felt like having a dessert and it worked for me. I made some chocolates with dates (by Healthyveganeating) and lemon energy balls (by an Italian nutritionist). I didn't feel like eating more than 1-2 (a miracle, right?) and felt satisfied. Not grazing and not eating after 6 pm has helped me a lot. I concentrate more on work to reduce anxiety ('Just do it!') and have all prepared to nourish myself. True, sometimes something throws us back but if we choose healthy nourishing foods and good habits, we are back on track. I do believe that our health must have priority over all the rest. We can't wait to feel in the right mood. We must be prepared in advance and stay strong despite everything that happens to us. All the best to all of you! ❤🧡💛💚💜💕

@@Elizabeth-dg8dn Hi! Here is the recipe of my buckwheat - oat waffles. The measurements are mostly in grams. If you need the American measurements in cups, I can gladly measure the ingredients the next time I make the waffles and post the the recipe again. Dry ingredients: 250 g buckwheat flour, 50 g oatmeal, 2 1/2 tsp cream of tartar or baking powder. Wet ingredients: 3 heaping tbsp ground flaxseeds, 250 ml plant-based milk 200 ml water ½ tsp salt Let the batter rest for 30 min. and then brush your waffle iron with some oil, use 2-3 tbsp of batter for each waffle and don't open the lid for 8 min. to be sure it will be crunchy. :)

For me I have decided to just make simple rituals of Breakfast , lunch and dinner with no snacking. I eat the healthy food and I have strategies when I am away from home. Honestly sugar for me is terrible.If I have a little I can't really resist it. I have had to learn to eat WHOLE whole grains( TEFF is my jam right now), Beans( lentils are my jam) , and filling food. I need flavor and seasoning. I now make bowls out of everything with filling sauces ( Well your World and homemade so I know what is in it). I keep on plan with a lot of food prep. Also don't want to be flamed but I did need to go on one of the hated shots for diabeties. My sister who has had a lifetime struggle trying to lose 200 plus pounds saw my results and is now also doing this and is able to lose the weight and eat her healthy meaningful food without going off the tracks. Its unfortunate the judgment about it and the flaming culture that everything is judgment and will power. Also I find that if I eat Oatmeal my blood sugar goes through the roof. I have put a libre 2 sensor on my arm and that has helped me to dial in my meal. I now eat lentils or some kind of filling fiber lower glycemic bowl.

Hey Heather, just watched a lady on You Tube in England who challenged herself to only eat what a person was rationed during WW2. She had done it once before and lost a lot of weight but like a lot of us lost focus and wandered into refined vegan food. She's still a veg and exchanges animal products to their vegan equivalents. They were allowed quite a bit of oils which we could trade for calorie equivalents. Why not make what's hard fun? I'd love to see you try it. It would be interesting content, get us out of our heads, and focus on the struggles people went through when they didn't know what the outcome was going to be. They did it for a greater cause. How about every month we lose weight we donate to a food bank. It has to be month as weekly is too much dependent on fluctuations that have more to do with water weight than fat loss. Now that I'm thinking of it. I think the little booklets we got from the old Weight Watchers program may have been based on ration books.

I recently came back from vacation to see our daughter...wasn't compliant but didn't gorge myself. I somehow lost 3 pounds...probably because I was more active and didn't snack hardly ever. That is a big plus for me. Anyway since being back I am making changes too...I saw a picture of myself on vacation and that scared me, saddened me, and motivated me to do something wonderful for myself....like losing weight. I am currently doing green smoothies with a little bit of fruit and eating raw veggies and fruit and a bit of non oil sauce or dressing. I am using this as a jump start to weight loss to motivated myself further. It is working and besides the 3 lbs I lost on vacation, I have lost an additional 1.5 lbs in 4 days. I hardly have any cravings which is unusual, but am grateful. I won't stay on this plan forever but want to drop a few more pounds before going back to WFPB no added oil, reduced salt and reduced sugar. So glad you are back on here...looking forward to your motivational talks and anything else you wish to share. All the best for your success and MINE LOL!

I think you have such a balanced way of looking at things and I'm sure you will move forward successfully. "I feel like I'm doing too much at once"....
