Thanks Arron another great video. Because of you and your videos I am currently doing a rewire on my Mako. Your videos are such great help and I feel confident enough to go ahead with this project. So far have installed 9” Garmin from an older out dated 7”, new fuel sender, rocker panel switch’s, updated power switch with smart charging, and fuse panel. Cut a hole in my counsel to put in a hatch way to install all the wiring onto. There was no easy way to get in behind it, unless your a contortionist. Still in the process of finishing it up but going together well. I am also fixing a few minor items. Big thanks to you and your videos. 😎🌴👍

Perfect video for us cheap skate boaters. I mainly go down this path as I still prefer a 2 stroke on my boats. Quick question regarding the water port on a yammie, I was told you couldn't run the engine using that and the water muffs were better as the impeller was wet, is that not the case?

I know for my Yamaha it says in the manual not to run it... I wouldnt be surprise if born again boating doesnt give a shit about the impeller or lower unit because he plans on replacing it and just wants to make sure the powerhead runs/ doesn't overheat.
@GunDoctorHTown
@GunDoctorHTown 3 жыл бұрын
@@Cameron-ur2tk In the how to get an outboard that's been sitting started video he touches on that, the water was hooked to the cooling port while working thru the kinks in the fuel system since the ethanol gas had wrecked havoc from the fuel tank to the injectors, motor never ran for more than 30 sec. The wash down port gives enough water to the impeller for lubrication but not enough for cooling the motor. I'd be replacing a 5 year old impeller anyway.
@BornAgainBoating
@BornAgainBoating 3 жыл бұрын
So, when it comes to running the engine on the flush attachment. Think about it this way, depending on the water pressure at your hose, at idle the engine water pump only produces 1-4 PSI of water pressure, most of the time in the 2-3 PSI range. So if you want to run the engine at idle on the flush attachment, you turn the hose on and let the water fill the engine, then start coming out the water pick ups. Once it's coming out the water pick ups you can start and run it at idle to check things out, but you do not want to rev the engine up because it will blow the water away from the impeller and run the impeller dry, ruining it. But if you just run it for a minute or two at idle to check stuff out, there's enough water pressure in the engine to push the water onto the impeller to keep it wet and not mess it up. ;) If you plan on reving the engine up, put it on the muffs for sure.

Hi Aaron! I have a question about wiring that maybe you can help me. On a Yamaha Motor with tiller hand (latest tiller model), electric start and pull start to start the motor with pull start the key must be in ON position. My question is: Can I start the motor with pull start with key disconnected/off position? Best regards
@BornAgainBoating
@BornAgainBoating 3 жыл бұрын
With that style tiller, I don't think you can, I think you have to disconnect it on the inside and it's basically the same way all of the Yami's are wired up. I could be wrong, but you'll have to search for that wire diagram to see if you can do it that way. With the pull start, you would think that they would put like an override switch or something to allow you to do that. Again, I'm not that familiar with the tiller's, we don't see a lot of them, so I could be wrong. Lol with the little engines I have to be looking at them to answer questions about them lol
