The hand sorter not sorting is a bug caused by you picking up the hand sorter while a resource is in the sorting slot causing the game to believe that the resource is still there, to fix the issue you just have to save and head to the main menu and then join your world again

Kept watching just to see his "Ah ha! moment". The next moment being when/if he injects the lava from the bottom sorter up to test the pressure problem idea, unsure if 2 intakes for each side would work well or not.

​@@bluesgalaxy7995 The locals are the real criminals. They ask for a certain criteria to be met, in exchange for tokens. They do not give you the extra resources back if you are over the asked amount. They won't even give you extra tokens for being over what they asked for. Darn local thieves, lol

Ice is collected 100% from the very top layer of each plot or periodically in the deeper layers. I believe you can shovel it under a drill for collection wherever you want.

The sorter was bugged from being picked up with a resource on it. Reload the save to fix it. Also there are some helpful shops in the other towns.

So I want to start this off by saying that I do really enjoy Z's content; however, sometimes what he does in his videos really make me think that he is either doing things a certain way just to mess with us and write comments like this for the engagement, or he actually doesn't know what he's doing sometimes. So he decided to go the hard way and build this elaborate sorting machine, that isn't even really working, because he thinks he doesn't have access to conveyor belts. They're available in both Shattered Outpost and Burville. All he needs is the ice melter, which is available in a couple places. I get that he might be confused as to where to get ice to melt, but what do you think the ground is? AND he looked right at some chunks and didn't even pick them up to see what they were. This is almost Lightyear Frontier with the Power Cores all over again. 😂 [End rant] Keep up the videos, Z. We love them, you're just frustrating sometimes. 😅

I am pretty sure the hand sorters are to blame for not getting the shards sorted. If you do not visit the dome town but the on the opposite first town. You will find the belts and the belt sorters. Or take the docks where you first came in, turn left and hit the town.

Hi Z1, for you sorting system you can actually use conveyor powered by water (which can be bought at burville for 2.250 I think) you just need to plug pipe and put the conveyors on them. To get the water you need to by a ice melter (buyable at the first shop in new glade(the bottom part)), the you power it with lava and put chunk of snow in it (drill ones work even if it says it need ice) and it will shoot out the filtered bits on the side whit no filter platform(where you put the item you want to be sorted). Z, you've got a bugged sorter there. There's a "phantom" resource on it. Your best bet is to take all resources of the last two sorters then save and quit to main. Put fresh resources back on them and they should work just fine!

I've had the sorter bug too. It happens on the belts as well. Pretty sure you need to save, quit, and reset

Lots of EDITs in this post, as things have come up!!! For building Shops in New Glade, similar to The Big Forge in Icehelm or the Forge on top of the Volcano, excess material will be returned... (As you discovered) Similar to dirty water on Bastion Island, unfiltered Lava will damage Miners and Harvesters. The Lava Miner produces Snow/Ice at the surface and also produces Ice Rocks if placed below surface height. Snow/Ice can be delivered to the Ice Melter to make water, but the Ice Rocks (they look quite different) need to be delivered to the Harvester and CANNOT be delivered to the Ice Melter. Also, don't use Funnel's. They suck and Ore frequently sticks to the sides... You also need to check that you're using the correct exit. The side with the sorter tray is where the SORTED material comes out. You want to catch the stuff that is UNSORTED... ...and your Hard Stone Crusher is blocking the output from the Hard Stone Sorter, which is why it's spurting in a weird direction... The Hand Sorters you're using have known bugs. If you have something on the Tray and you pick up the Hand Sorter, it doesn't work right. Once the Sorter is placed, you need to clear the Tray and re-place the Ore you want it to sort. Sometimes, you need to clear the Tray, Save, Quit to Menu, and the Reload the Save to clear the issue... I am WAY past this stage of play and can give LOTS of hints and tips, but I don't want to go too much further unless you want Spoilers...

Yo Z if you quickly go back through your first episode the quest chain of deliveries brings you to BURVILLE where the belts are but you need the ice melter to run them.

You should move the lava intake back one space and put the pressure booster at the base

You want to boost the pressure as close to the drill and harvester as you can get it. The amount of pressure in the pipe drops by a value of 1 for each pipe after an intake pipe or a booster pipe. So having a booster right at the drill will insure that it gets the maximum boost.

I second the common opinion that this is a painful watch. This man has played this game for 4 years and has not figured out to heat the friggin' crucible up before putting the ore in. He has not figured out the most basic methods of playing this game without automation.

Your way over complicating your setup, go to shattered outpost or burville and get conveyor belts it's not the stores in new glade.
