ABSOLUTELY!!!!!! about the criticism ; people who started as adults are A LOT less hateful and critical to others. Those who grew up in a studio and were told all their life they can't do it or they aren't good enough have a tendency to mirror those same things onto others and pick apart all of their flaws out of this attitude of 'if I was told I can't do it for that reason, than you shouldn't either!'. Don't let those projections effect you or your ballet journey! But that is where the difference in mentality comes from from those of us who wanted to do this forever and couldn't start until later in life, and those who had their dreams crushed by grown adults as children.

As an adult dancer it's going to click in your mind before it clicks in your body. Muscle memory WILL come but you'll find it frustrating because you'll visually see what you are supposed to do, and technically understand how to do it, but translating that to your body takes time. I don't mean to be discouraging but I would say about 6 years. My ballet teacher said the same thing when I started at 19 and I find that to be true for myself. But 6 years will FLY by doing something you love.

to clarify, I believe it takes about 6 years to get to a point where your body feels and responds like a dancer, not to start developing muscle memory!

That crazy but time does fly. I can’t believe it’s been a year for me now. I definitely think I’m learning very slowly but I am starting to remember a lot of movement and I am so proud of that. Did you go super often to ballet to get better in those 6 years?

I just give the general advice if you are learning primarily at home; video record everything to watch back and critique later, and make self-correcting your number 1 priority as nobody else is there to do that for you

I am definitely going to use this tip! I do record myself but I’m will try to do it more often! Thank you so much for all the good tips! I appreciate it more than you know! 🤍

First discovered you on TikTok and it’s super nice to sit down and hear you chat about your story. It’s super inspiring as another adult ballerina! I wish I had someone like you to watch when I was younger and doubting myself!!

OKAY let's nip all those Ballerinas in the bud; there is NOTHING wrong with wanting to dress in a Ballerina-Aesthetic style! Anybody telling you otherwise is doing the 'YOU'RE A POSER!!', they are just being d*cks. As an actual Dancer and coach; I'm telling you you are doing NO harm to anyone. Don't let anyone try and spoil your passion because they are being pretentious. That being said, the aesthetic is totally not that of a real ballerina, and like the comments said, most professionals are just crusty and in sweats all the time except during class and performances lol, so if you like that style it's absolutely doing no harm to anyone to dress however you want to.

only priveleged people will tell you not to practice at home. Not everyone has access to that. And you can get injured in class too ;)

The idea is teachers can teach you proper technique whuch is very important. But I find sometimes in adult ballet classes the teachers don’t correct technique that much anyways, yet will let their students do more advanced stuff just cause they’re not worried about being blamed for injuries in the same way as people teaching children are.

I started dancing when I was eight, but this was not professional or anything. I'm 14 now and I still dance (I dance once a week and the dance style is commercial jazz/ modern, the dances are getting harder and more fun. I wanted to do ballet all my life but when I took the idea seriously I thought I was/am too old. Now I am finally going to do a trial class August 15 :) I can't wait!!!

Hello! I was wondering if you could possibly post a video about where to get ballet shoes, clothing etc for beginners? 💕
@uikmnhj4me
@uikmnhj4me Жыл бұрын
Discount Dance Supply has a website you can order from, but until you know your dance shoe size (it’s not the same as your street shoe size) you’ll want to get fitted at a store in person if possible. If you can’t find a dance supply store nearby, find KZbin videos on ballet shoe fit so you can ensure whatever you order fits appropriately. Even in soft shoes it’s important to get a good fit!

I definitely want to keep learning about ballet. Some of the history is … different. Like the fact that it was known that most of the dancers were escorts to keep advancing their career. 💔🩰

Just a quick question, I really want to join, but I’m as stiff as a board. Can I start off the bat just like that, or should I take a Pilates course, or invest in the gym?

Just start! The best way to train ballet muscles is to do ballet!!! General gym exercises won’t hit all the same places.

Is there any science based fact that a adult has a harder time to learn then a child? Because from my research that is not true.

Hiya. please reply to this message.I am planning on taking tamoxifen just to reduce the size of my breasts as I heard it reduces breast density by lowering oestrogen. Did you experience a decrease in breast size from taking tamoxifen? I am 20

As someone who has been brutally ripped to shreds online by random strangers, (150k insta account) it gets easier. When you read mean comments it will and always will sxck. There is no way around it. No matter how many people tell you to just not care, or say they are insecure, you’re head will not believe it. After 4 years of doing online stuff, I eventually got used to it and laugh at rude comments. (I’ve basically seen it all) but if you can’t handle comments. I suggest not even reading them, or filtering certain phrases in KZbin settings. But if you can’t handle it, don’t read or look at them. Even the positive ones. Sometimes I look at the emojis, or first words to know if it’s mean or nice, I just choose to scroll when I know it’s mean.
