About a week ago, I planted seven seeds from a flower pod that came from my own carnation plant. I have one more pod for the spring, but I wanted to see if the other pod's seeds would germinate, and they have! Six out of seven and I've reduced them to four. So, success, and I'm a proud parent. Let's see if I can coax them to maturity and flowering in the next month or so. ;)

I'm trying to grow carnations from seed in a zone 3 garden for May wedding this year. I just started them yesterday. I hope they bloom in time, but I may have waited too long! In your experience with these, how many days to germinate did they take; and how long to get true leaves? Thank you so much for this video. I feel very encouraged

I just tried to grow carnations. The seedlings sprouted. I used miracle fro germination soil. The leaves are green but I am noticing some leaves curling down and touching the stem and a couple that are curling upwards. They are green but should I be worried?

Sometimes the leaves on these do curl around. I would keep watching them.

If they don't get enough light they will grow tall and leggy you want to make sure they will get enough light.

What gardening zone are you in? and do you periodically pinch/trim these as they grow?
@carriesgardeningchannel8563 жыл бұрын
I am gardening in Pennsylvania zone 5b. You can pinch and trim them but it will delay your blooming.

@@carriesgardeningchannel856 when did you transplant outside? Thank you for answering!
@carriesgardeningchannel8562 жыл бұрын
Mine are greenhouse residents. You can transplant these outside after the danger of frost has passed. You will want to check your growing zone to see if they will be a perennial for you. Your welcome!
