Starting Dads Old Fergy After 15 Years!

Today we try to start my dad's Old Fegy that hasn't been driven in 15 years!

Back in 1973, I used to drive a grey Fergy just like this one. The front of the vehicle featured a hydraulic lifting bucket, and another man twice broke the axel arm of the front tire when excavating in hard clay on a hill. That didn't sit well with our employer. However, I felt that for the time, they were a good tractor.

Only bother with the P3 conversions is the petrol backends were a bit weak for the tourque, what killed a lot of them off , the factory Diesel Fergie was just about a different tractor altogether

Grey Fergie was the first thing i ever drove, farming aged 12. Amazing machines. It was still pushing a powerhoe last time I was on the farm.

I spent hours driving our (factory) diesel (with the ki-gas) as a child, with a PTO concrete mixer on the back while dad built our outbuildings. They had a big brass knob sticking out of the side of the gearbox you had to hold down with the side of your knee before you could engage the starter position. The petrol/tvo units had a blanking plug there.

first thing i ever drove was a Fergy on family friends farm, used to go every year for a very long time, as a kid i remember starting the old Fergy aged about 9 or 10, stand behind it, behind one back wheel, ignition on, push up on the tyre tread to bump start, good old girl started every time - the second thing i ever drove was an old Army Pig, 6 wheel drive, and then later i learnt to drive on the road

Now that brought back memories. Learned to drive on one of them...almost sixty years ago. Downside was that, as soon as I was reasonably proficient, I somehow found myself volunteered to tow the muck spreader. Happy days!🤣🤣🤣

Great job. I used to cut grass at a sports club with a TE20 Petrol/TVO and gang mowers. I was 14 yo then. Great fun summer job. Standard Triumph engine was brill, always started and ran well. Starter was operated by a switch on the gear lever. Push over to the right and up. Another great vid, ta muchly.
